I couldn’t find any info online in regards to my specific question and this was the most relevant thread I could find. Since I’m new, I couldn’t start my own thread asking the question. I’m getting a 2017 SR5 next week and, other than tinting the windows, the first thing I’m going to do is install a leveling kit to remove the rake. I am wanting to replace the wheels and tires, but also want to avoid killing my gas mileage since this will be my DD. Someone please correct me if I’m wrong, but, from my understanding, bigger tires reduce MPG more than bigger wheels. I am considering two options after leveling it - 17’s with 275 BFG AT’s or 20’s with 275 BFG AT’s. Do you think 17’s and 275’s (more rubber, slightly lighter wheel) or 20’s and 275’s (less rubber, slightly heavier wheel) would yield better gas mileage. I’m really thinking the latter since there will be less tire to turn. Can anyone speak from experience on what the average MPG would be with either of those wheel/tire size combinations, or which would be most efficient? Thanks in advance for any helpful info!
