Gas mileage

I recently have purchased a Trail edition which now has 1600 Klm. The mileage started with 19.5 L / 100 km in hwy to currently 12.9 L / 100 Km. I should note that I have replaced the original tires with Michelin LTX M/S 2.

The vehicle is rated at
City 12.6 L/ 100Km (22 mpg)
HWY 9.2 6 L/ 100Km (31 mpg)
Combined 11.1 6 L/ 100Km (25 mpg)

Can someone tell me if I should expect for the milage to improved from what I get right now?

The US version is rated at 17mpg city / 22mpg hwy. On a recent roadtrip, I averaged 21 mpg, all hwy. Depends where you drive and how you drive.

Ok guys, what do you mean by resetting the counter?

I am simply reading the gas consumption from the reader in the Info center or speedometer.

Should I be doing it the old fashion way (calculate consumption between fill ups myself)?

As per my driving, they have been simply hwy, no load or towing with two passengers. It does not matter what the mileage is, I like my truck, but I would have hoped for a better mileage in the hwy

Reset it on the speedometer if you want to keep the history on the info center. Resetting on the info center ("consumption" screen) removes all of the history.

Best method of getting the true MPG is to calculate at refueling. I think most people have said the Toyota computer is a little optimistic; mine tends to be a little conservative.
 
So, should both the speedometer and the info center be reset independently of one another? I have been reseting the speedometer, but not the info center, although I typically have the range set on the info center. Should I be resetting the range on the info center with each fill up?

Sorry, I wasn't clear. The info center shows you minute-by-minute MPG and another screen that's by week (I think, may be a different period). I'm talking about the screen that you display by pressing "Info" and then "Fuel Consumption". If you hit the "clear" button on that screen all of the history on both screens is cleared. It may reset the MPG that shows up on the speedo & dashboard meter too - I'm not sure.

If you display MPG on the speedo & hold down the button you use to switch between trip meters/odometer/etc it will just reset the MPG in the speedo & dashboard meter but will leave the consumption history alone.
 
Just finished a 7400 km trip to California and back. Was getting around 11.2 to 11.4 on the highway crusing at around 125 kph. In the city I'm getting between 12.8 to 13.4 for day to day stop and go.

I am getting 12.8L/100klm in Hwy and 13L/100klm in the city.
My friend working at Lexus told me it takes abut 4k before the vehicle fully breaks in and mileage become optimum. Hope he is right since 90% of driving is hwy.
 
Im pleased to see 22.3 mpg for my 2010 V-6 SR5 4x4 with a 60/40 highway/street driving mix. I got these numbers by doing the math at the pump not by the gauges.

I found that I got better mileage if I drive moderately and not too conservatively. I dont go over 75 on the highway and my truck is completley stock.

I reset my info reader as it was suggested. I am now getting the arround 11.4 to 11.6 on hwy and 13.1 to 13.5 for day to day.

I have 2000 klm now.
 
I just drove from Milwaukee to the twin cities and got about 22MPG in my TE and right around 23MPG on the way back........due in part to a tail wind:)

Not bad for a heavy SUV!
 
6 tanks so far: 22.2MPG average.
I've been light-footed but plenty of 70MPH HWY, City, Mountains and 4H and 4L fun stuff. Surprisingly good city mileage to work and back.
 
i'm averaging 19-20mpg in and around the city....very slight increase if i set the cruise on the freeway and i'm not getting mad at stupid people.
