Gas Shocks

i was thinking about getting some gas shocks. i hear that they make the ride really smooth, esspecially for passengers in the backseats. does anyone have an experience with them? can't seem to find any for an '06 with x-reas. all i could dig up on kyb's are here:

The XREAS shock system is as good/smooth as it gets and cost big bucks. I don't think you would want to replace them with shocks that would not provide a better on-road ride.

I think you need to give a better description of what you mean by smooth. After test driving just about every mid-sized SUV on the market, I feel the XREAS equipped 4Runner is one of the smoothest out there.

Therefore, you are not gonna get a better ride out of new aftermarket shocks, esp. with XREAS system.

I have a 04 SR5 V8 and I think it is a little soft in the ride. What would be a good alternative for the stock shocks? Does Edelbach make shocks that fit a 4Runner? I would like to keep the nice ride but maybe firm it up a bit to reduce the sway when turning. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I do not believe that Edelbrock makes shocks for 4th gen 4runners. Most people like Bilsteins. Some like Monroe shocks. Some like KYB.

If you can wait, then i am sure that Bilsteins will make shocks for 4th gen.

I am not sure...but i think that some people have OME shocks on stock suspension.

Another alternative that is easy (and not expensive) is to add the AirLift 1000 bags in the rear coils. I got it primarily to help when towing but I found a side benefit. I have a SR5 and got a firmer ride (slightly less roll or sway) if I keep a minimum amount of pressure in the bags. Search for the thread about this.
