Gas tank skid plates availability?

Try contacting RAT Products and see if he has an extra gas tank skid plate set from the recent GB or see if he can otherwise help you out. Great products.

Doesn't matter really, but aftermarket is always cooler
Lil Skip seems to have one ready to ship so I'm probably going with him.

Wow, good to know. I was in contact with them. I'm a bit surprised, I always held their products in high regard. Still, will probably get some bumpers from them in the indeterminate future.

Wow, they were good to me when I ordered my FB. I called them with questions about the different PIAA lights & they were very helpful.
You had a good experience with the sliders though right?
But yea, I'll get a lil skips eventually.
Yeah. My OEM gas stank skid plate is dented from my drive shaft hitting it. And even the weight on the driveshaft gets caught.

It doesn't matter which skid plate you have, it's gonna hit with a tall enough lift. I cut a section of my OEM skid off with the angle grinder. No more hitting.
I was thinking the same. Hay it doesn't matter which skid plate you have.
I need to do that. Because it sounds so loud when your off roading lol

My opinion on skids, and this is my opinion and you know what they say about opinions, is to rattle can them. If you use them, then all the $$$ you spent to get it powder coated is just going to get dinged up.

They put me through hell trying to get them to admit that their skid plate was not properly designed and was contacting my driveshaft. I waited like 4 months until I finally got something. I emailed Mark about it and it would take over a week to respond, if he even would. Then I would call and he would say he didn't see my email.
They put me on the back burner because they had other projects their "designers" were working on and they couldn't take the time to design the skid to fit 3/4 of an inch closer to the tank.
I finally called them one day and just yelled at Mark and tore him apart after getting the run around on this for months. I think the line that got him was "This is ******* ridiculous that you guys can't design and build a properly functioning gas tank skid plate in a reasonable amount of time when there are people who ARENT claiming to be professionals and they can build one in their garage with simple hand tools. This is absolutely pathetic."
Like 2-3 weeks after this I had a new skid plate show up at my door. Unpowdercoated, and with one bracket that was not properly bent. It was bent at a 90* angle and it needed to be more like a 45* angle to line up with the stock mounting point on the driveshaft side.
I painted this one, installed it, went and flexed the truck and it still hit. I was furious at this point, but absolutely done with Mark and that company. He emailed me a couple weeks afterwards asking if it fit and I didn't respond because I wasn't going to deal with them anymore. I took the skid plate off and fixed it myself with an angle grinder.
My experience with the sliders was alright. I ordered plain sliders without the treadplate. After I placed my order I emailed them asking about adding the tread plate, but keeping the sliders angled and tucked up to the body. They said no. Why, I have no idea. Other companies do it... Then my sliders got delivered. I opened the package and they had tread plates, but no angle... Not what I ordered. After waiting many months, I mocked them up on the truck and decided I'd make them work. I wasn't super thrilled though when I also got charged for the tread plate option a couple days later.
In the end I'm glad I got the tread plate as it helps keep crap from flying up on the truck, but it would have been nice to have them angled, or at least been given a discount on that option since that isn't what I ordered, but what I received...
The Lil skips one won't hit the driveshaft, and my shrockworks one doesn't now that I fixed it myself with an angle grinder...
It's a terrible noise, and it can't be good for the driveshaft either.
Well, I have a bare steel plate inbound from Lil Skips, and I can't wait to get it mounted. Should be coming in Thursday.
Anyone coated one of these or a similar piece of steel meant for rough use? I'm debating what kind of coating to put on it before I bolt it on. Pics to follow
Glad to see you went with lil skips. Wish I would have done that from the start. I had my original set powder coated, but my replacement gas tank one I spray painted. I like powder coat because it gets into all the little crevasses, and provides a great base for you to do touch up on later. Mine that have been powder coated hold up better to dragging on rocks and are easier to touch up than my spray painted one. Just my 2 cents.
