Gas Tank Skidplate meets Driveshaft

I can't possibly be the only one experiencing this. Under full articulation on the trail, my driveshaft is touching the gas tank skidplate.

Anyone else have this problem on the trail? Has anyone fixed this problem before?

I imagine I can take it off and cut the part off that's touching however with all the dents, I cant imagine it will be easy to put back on.

This happens to many of us. The taller the rear lift is the more the DS swings to the left or right when turning.

yup me to. Its actually the little weight on the drive shaft that is getting
caught on the lip of the gas tank skid plate. You could either grind down the part of the weight. Or cut out a section of the skid plate. Otherwise its a normal thing when you flex out. Even with sway bar on it makes contact .

I run stock 80 series shocks on mine and it contacted the skid. I took a hammer to my skid and pounded the areas back for extra clearance.

Just hammer it out of the way. That's what I did and that's what most folks seem to do as well. That was the easiest way too.

Yeah that was going to be my joke, do the fuel tank delete mod.

I knocked my grease zerk fitting off the shaft. Maybe a weight too, I do have an intermittent rear end vibe that I can't track down.

I figured that... unfortunately my weight on it looks like a peeling apple skin. I almost have to grind down a section of it.

Between my drop bracket and lil' skips gas tank skid, I don't get any contact.

You installed his lift and drop bracket? It stopped all gas tank contact? I highly doubt it would do that since it would push the axle back towards the tank and would make contact worse since it realigns the axle.

Toytec. For some reason. I just feel like it is what it is. The gas tank is kinda in a shitty location.

Drop bracket would help the driveshaft contact but it will cause more body roll.
Lift bracket will help body roll but cause more drive shaft contact.
Get panhard correction kit and hammer and/or cut your gas tank skid. This solves all your problems and is the best option IMO.

We will be releasing a 3/16" gas tank skid plate shortly that helps solve this issue as well. But as mentioned, cutting or hammering the stock skid can get the same clearance.

Installer error can be a b!tch sometimes! Seems you've had a lot of issues installing parts that others have had fine results with. :biggrin2: Did you ever get your lower front control arm skids to work?

Sounds like I'll be picking up the cutting wheel and loosing some skidplate.

Pretty embarrassing noise on the trail.
