Gasket under A post windshield trim ?

Searching for anything windshield brings up the glass, my question is should I be concerned about a really dry rotted (and split in many places) gasket under the trim on the left and right side of the windshield?? As I stand on one side of the runner and look across at the other I can see this badly deteriorated gasket material.

No leaks, no noise, just cracked and split enough to push trim up a little bit.

Thanks

I would get it replaced or at least seal it. If the channel the windshield gets set into is damaged by rust the only real way to fix it is welding in new oddly shaped metal. Expensive, super expensive. Seal it now and avoid going down that road.
Of course the windshield can always be caulked in around a bad channel but that's not really fixing it right, just a bandaid.
