Ive had an 03 SR5 for 5 years now and recently began having problems with the gear shifter. For the past few months it easily shifted between park and drive, but there was a significant amount of resistance shifting between 3, 2, and Low. Yesterday, I tried to shift down into 2nd and suddenly there wasn't any resistance at all. Now, the shifter can easily move between 3rd and Drive if you gently tap it, almost as if its a tiptronic. I am relatively concerned about this, because when your on the highway if you touch the shift knob ever so slightly it will downshift into 3rd gear (from drive).
I did some research on the site, specifically around removal of the center console, and will see if I can find any obvious problems with the console removed.
