Gear whine when cold?

I was wondering if anyone has experienced what sounds like gear whine when their 4runner is cold? For 1/4 miles or so I will hear a faint sound of gear whine when I let off the accelerator pedal. It will disappear after 1 minuet of driving. It's a whine (not squeal) that's harmonic with speed.

I've got an 01 4wd with 111k. Any ideas, or should I even be worried?

45 views and no takers? Might I ask if anyone here had a similar symptom prior to changing their t-case and/or diff fluid?

maybe low on gear oil in the diff? Make sure it's full up to the top hole.
