Just wanted to post up a quick review of my time spent dealing with Zuk over at
Toyota Gear Installs
I had finally found the source of my never-ending drive line whine to be in my 3rd member. I guess whoever set up this 3rd member initially didn't get the tolerneces correctly and the pinion slop was so bad that it was heating up and boiling my fluid out of the breather. I drove it whining for 3-4 months while trying to source the whine. I called every shop I know in Austin and couldn't find anyone to rebuild my 3rd member. I had seen Zuks website a few times and was always hoping one day I could use his insane Toyota building history to my advantage.
I chatted back and forth with him for a day or so sending photos to confirm what I thought was wrong was correct. I packed up my 3rd member that evening and shipped it to Arizona the next day. I ordered all the parts for the rebuild online and had them shipped to Zuk. He had endless photos of every detail of the rebuild in order sent to me with detailed information on what specifically went wrong and why.
I can't explain how rad it is to have someone so knowledgable be able to determine the exact point of failure. Within 24hrs of receiving my 3rd he had it completely rebuilt with detailed photos showing everything you could ever ask for.
He had it shipped back out to me the following day and I was able to get it in my hands again today after being out of town this weekend. I must say everything looks absolutely amazing and the tolerances seem to be exact.
I know I haven't installed it yet, but wanted to just post how happy I was with the service he has. I will update this later in the week once I do my initial gear break in. I know this guy knows his stuff better than most people around so I wanted to recommend him up front, because I trust him.
Anyone looking to re-gear or rebuild a 3rd or install a locker and doesn't have a local shop that would take it on. Go here.
