I started pricing out some front and rear bumpers and started thinking wait a second.......I'm already turning 35's and this is just adding more weight so maybe gears would be better first. Going through ECGS seems to be the best best and is priced similar to what bumpers would cost.

So my questions is.......what would you do first, Gears or Armor?

Changing my vote.

Sorry, I clicked armor on the sidebar thing without actually reading the post. With 35s I'd say gears.

So add one of those armor votes to gears.

Looks like it Gears by a landslide. I'm going to check out some local shops today for quotes. East coast looks like a good company to go with but having to do core charges and it not even including installation its a little more than i'd like to spend.

welcome to life :)

and if you add lockers its more. I would love to regear, but cannot afford it. I would love to buy a back bumper, but cannot afford it.

That was going to be my next question.......4.88 or 5.29?

Also, I know there is a chart floating around with what gears to run for what tires, however, I'm wanting to know is there a ballpark figure for how many RPM's each ratio changes? For example, 4.10 to 4.56, and 4.56 to 4.88, 4.88 to 5.29?

thats not low enough for 35's.... he already has 4.30s

id say 5.29's
He can pick up 4.56ers Toyota axles at a junkyard for cheaper than aftermarket lower gears, and then sell his current gears for about what he paid for the 4.56ers. That way all hes paying is a buddy or two to help him with the job :bash:

Read the Addicted Offroad post on project intervention. 5.29's w/ AT running the 35-37's I believe. B/c of the 70%? Overdrive on the AT.
