im a little confused on gears right now.

i cant find out what my current gears are.

i got the 99 4runner with the rear locker in it.

and i want to sometime run 33's.

does anyone know the gear ratio for my rig?

and do i need to replace both the gears in the front and rear differentials?

Don't know enough about your truck to say.

Is it auto or manual?

4 cyl or 6 cyl?

Standard tire package or larger factory tire package?

Sunroof?

What color?

OK, the last 2 don't matter. :biggrin2:

Get the axle code off the VIN plate on the firewall and ask the dealer, or check one of the online charts.

Yes, you have to regear both axles.

I could be wrong but I thought all 4Runners that came with the factory rear locker also got 4.3 gears - at least I think that's the way it was in 2000.

I have a 2000 on 33'' and I just regeard there where 2 different setups you ether have 3.56 or 4.10 I hade 4.10 and regeard to 4.56 I used a gear calculater and with 4.56 on 33x12.5 it should be 10 % lower then 4.10 on 31x10.5 befor you start you will need to know if you have a 8'' or 8.2'' rearend you also need to know it you have a low or high pinion in the front. if you have any ? fill free to ask
