I recently installed a Clinometer in my 89 4Runner. The tilt level works very well, alt works, lights work correctly but the slope seems to have a problem or two:
The slope will only operate to 20 degree incline, and then it stops. The slope seems to want to rest between 5 and 10 degrees when it should be reading level. The adjustment knob is adjusted max counter clockwise, and thats as close as I can get it. If i brake hard and come to a stop, then it reads correctly at 0 degrees on a level surface, even after the truck levels out and sits at rest (it wont creep back to the incorrect 5-10 incline). If I drive off hard, obviously it starts to read an incline slope from the pull. If I stop very softly, it remains between 5 to 10 degrees slope.
So thats the problem.
At first it was stuck at 20 degrees, and I overturned the dial, while pulling it out about 5 times, hearing the *click* from over turning it 5 times, and then like magic it returned to life....which is what I was hoping for.
So the slope works, its just sloppy.
Any advice for this? I mean it works, just not perfect - is that normal?
The tilt is much more accurate. The alt seems to work, but it was tough to test.
