General Questions: Looking to buy

Things are picking up with selling my car here later this week it seems. Might be next week. I have a vehicle to drive for 2-3 weeks once my car sells, so I dont have to jump on buying the first one I see.

As mentioned above, I really like the 06 cosmetic changes. Primarily with headlights and fogs. As I catch myself driving at night and some country roads at night I want the projectors and will put HID's in.

Anyways, what are the odds of finding a good condition (Yes i know mileage will be higher) 06 4Runner for roughly 15.5k? So basically dealer asking 16.5-17k and talk them down. Prefer something non-northern due to rust.

Only high mileage at that price for 06+ (V6 4WD); you should not be discouraged from the 03-05. You want an 06+ just because of the lights? You can always change them out.

Yeah I really liked the projector headlights, and know the HID's would be very nice in it. I do like the fog change as well, but can live without it I guess

So your saying the 06 headlights "bolt right in" place of the 03-05?

Yes, the lights should bolt in just like stock, though you will need an additional trim piece for just under the headlight to make up for a slight design change.

I just hit 89k miles on my 07 sr5 4wd v6 and have averaged just under 19 mpg from day 1. My brakes look like new (lots of highway and I let off the gas if an upcoming light is red). Only mod I really needed to do (IMO) was swap out the base head unit and speakers for decent ones. I found one set up exactly like I wanted, other than the stereo upgrade, but had Tweeter (rest their souls) do it for me for less than an upgrade cost.

Cool, So I found a 2006 Tan on Tan SR5. 130k miles (says all highway) and very clean inside and out. The vehicle is 8 hours from me, and hes asking 15k. Does this sound reasonable? KBB says Good condition is 14.1k and excellent is 15.2k value. I was thinking of offering 14,5 or 14,7 for it.

Like I said I have not seen, and taking his word on it being solid car. History reports come up clean.

The miles are up there obviously, but as long as maintenance is up to date, it hasn't been abused and like you say the history is clean then I wouldn't be afraid of it. These will last forever. (I can't comment on price as I'm in a whole different world than you for this).

Although, like others said, I wouldn't be afraid of getting something a little older with less miles either. The cosmetic stuff you want to change would be pretty easy.

In the end it's whatever makes you happy. If this one does it I wouldn't be afraid of it either as long as all the items in my first paragraph are good. Although 8 hours away is a long way to go to if you find out what he's saying wasn't true. That'd be a bummer.
