Hi Guys,

I have been surfing and searching the forum for a sticky or thread on the relative merits or demerits between the 3 and 4 generations. Can someone please point me to the right area.

My 1995 Jeep XJ motor toasted at 230k miles. I need a true 4x4 replacement SUV and have always liked the T4R. I am in the DC area and there are many available.

If you want to actually take a look at one, I live on the Hill in D.C.

I have a 2005 V8 Runner Sport Edition 4x4.

If you are looking at the 4th gen, the discussion usually comes down to V8 vs. v6 and with or without XREAS.

So, if you want to see/feel the v8 with xreas, feel free.

Thanks. What is xreas? I am leaning to V6 due to commuting mileage to Sharpsburg, MD.

I went from a 2000 Jeep Cherokee Classic (Great vehicle) to a 2008 V6 4Runner (Urban runner) and it is a nice machine. I have a 2004 Mustang GT as a weekend car and it used to be a treat to drive the Mustang on the weekends after driving the Cherokee all week but, after driving the 4Runner the Mustang feels like the harsher vehicle now. I am impressed by the Xreas system because it rides nice and doesn't have much body roll at the same time. The V6 is very powerful and torquey so, it is fun to drive. It is about 500lbs heavier than a Cherokee but, the 4Runner feels faster and more nimble than the Cherokee did AND it rides better. :thumb3:
