I was buying this for myself for Xmas. Did you choose the key lock or tumbler lock and what has been your experience with either? I'm thinking I will go for the tumbler lock but nothing frustrates me more (as someone getting up in age with poor closeup eye sight) is finicky tumblers when trying to get something out of storage in a hurry! Then again, I don't want to be fumbling for as key when time matters.

This one has both and its nice that it does. If I had to do it all over again, I would get the Lock'er down with the electronic keypad...however, I do use the tissue box holder lol.

I've got the Lock'er Down with the 4 digit combination lock. It's been great.

I wear my firearm while riding in the vehicle so "finicky tumblers" aren't an issue until I have to open the safe after securing something therein, like my garage door opener while out of the vehicle.

(I keep a pair of inexpensive reading glasses handy in the tray so I can see them a bit more clearly with my sixty something year old eyes. (Minor astigmatism.)

One of the best purchases made for the 4R.

So the Lock'r Down. It says on their website: "There is a cutout to allow access to power port. "

But I have read here that you have to drill a hole yourself because there isn't a cutout. Which is it?

Sure doesn't look like it has one. Maybe for the coin holder but not the power port? Or do you route the wire through the coin holder hole?

Another statement I found on their website: "Does not block any USB or Power Ports"

I guess it doesn't "block" the power port, but there is no opening for the wire to go through without opening the lid. Seems like they would have engineered the hole in the box like the OEM one does.

Ok, I called and talked to Katherine (I think) at Lockerdown. She said that the reason they don't put the hole above the power port is to prevent someone from using it as a pry hole to try and pull it out. But if you want one, just ask and they will put one there. Great customer service by the way, very responsive company. I plan on getting one and picking it up in person since I'll be in San Antonio soon.
One more note, they have some customers that have had their vehicles broken into and none were able to get the box open.

I'm interested in this device, but when I look at the link to it on his youtube page I noticed it doesn't have the slot for the cell phone cord. I might just be to simple minded. Ok... I have the Toyota one; it came with my truck when I bought it new.

I love it. It's pretty deep and does have power access. You can fit virtually any pistol in there. I bet my MK23 would fit, though I haven't tried it yet.

I drive around with it unlocked so I can access it as needed, assuming I'm not carrying IWB. I lock it when I stop. I use the tumbler, instead of the key.

My theory is that if someone breaks into the car to try and steal stuff, the alarm is going to go off. I doubt that someone is going to crack that 3 digit code fast enough to avoid detection.

I installed the Toyota safe a few weeks ago. It fits the bill for secure storage if you need to leave anything in the truck for some reason.

I'm looking for ideas on how to attach a holster in the thing. Holding the pistol with a magnet is fine if it's not in condition one, but otherwise that's a no go if there's anything else in the console that might find its way into the trigger guard.

It can be hard to tell with ebay, you really need to look at the seller, feedback and reviews. honestly I'd get OEM, obviously anything really cheap is immediately suspicious to me. I found one that is likely legitimate, hopefully the link works for you. you can also search the part # in google and you'll see a bunch of ebay links too and some links to toyota dealer sites from the US. I've never seen this available in Canada from a Canadian dealer
