Any opinions on the Yoko Geolander AT/S tires ?

I'm really liking mine so far, not loud at all, great ride, amazing rain traction. Taking them up to Tahoe soon for a snow performance test.

The only thing I've noticed so far that I don't like, is that I get pretty bad tramlining on roads with ruts, which didn't happen with the stock tires at all.

I like mine a lot.

Great on road. Have yet to take them offroad.

Very reasonably priced.

I wouldn't hesistate to buy them again.

The only thing I dislike about them is the appearance.

I've had BFG ATs and these blow them away.

I recently almost bit off more than it could chew running some trails down by the river. Ended up buried to my running boards in thick mud.

4Lo she went and locked the Mid/Rear diffs and she pulled herself out.

My BFG would have balked at that mud.

They also ran me through fields of 14-16" snow for miles and miles.

Great tire, they're super cheap, easy on the wallet

I just took the 4runner through 2 feet of fresh powder
They're great in the sand too
Great on the highway

I had good year wrangler silent armor and bridgestone revo's before and thease are just as good but a fraction of the price

I'm looking at these myself- lots of good reviews and great price. I might pull the trigger on them myself but still have to decide load range C or D- weight difference is substantial and my main concern is punctures out here in the CA deserts.

Those come as standard equipment on the 5th gen Limited's... 20,000 miles later including copious amounts of snow, some off-roading and most recently even driving on the open beach, and not one single time has the truck not done exactly what I told it to do~ I Love 'Em!

I have a question- this first link is to my stock size 265/70/16- but does not list a load and is over 10lbs lighter than the D load range. Can I assume the D load would be more puncture resistant? Do you guys thing the stock size is a P rated tire not an LT?

I finally ordered the 265/75/16 in Load D from tirerack.com. I will give them a try and maybe next time get the standard load range if these are too stiff or just overkill for my needs. I'm excited and will report back once I get them installed and on the dirt!

Recommended. I bought them for my mom's '05 Grand Vitara (235/60R16) and they're really good all-around. It was the most aggresive tire I could find in that size. Quiet on pavement. Sharp handling. Good in the dirt. Good in snow and rain. Smaller, lighter vehicle than a 4Runner but a smaller size tire as well and a similar application.

Had these on a Honda Element

I put a set of Geolander tires on our Honda Element a few years back. Much nicer than the stock tires. They seemed to grip the road better than the Goodyears that were stock. The Goodyears didn't get to 30K miles, from what I recall.

Shopping for tires myself now for the 99, thankfully I've finally gotten a job again.

I'm leaning towards the 235/85/16 size as it seems to offer quite similar specs to 265/75/16s I am running now. E load rating is of course overkill for my needs, but does not overly concern me.

I like the price most definitely and I thank you guys for reminding me about Yokos.

I've got over 500mi on my set since my last post- and I like them a lot- but I'd prob go with standard load next time. Just a bit stiff and heavy and bouncy- not really good for bumpy freeways in curves if you get my drift. I love them though- they look great, are dead quiet, warranty, etc. My biggest complaint has nothing to do with the tires but with the fact I have not had time to get them in the desert for some camping yet!

E load range 235/85R16s are serious tires for a 4Runner. Almost 32" but super, super tough. Rough ride though, these were meant for 3/4 and 1 ton trucks.

I ran D Loads on mine, at 65psi. They were 33.50/11.50/16s.

Between them and the Stiffer OME suspension, they rode hard, but still fantastic.

Did the OP pick these up? Best All Terrain tire available.

Mine have been great. I have Yokohama on all my cars. Japanese vehicles need Japanese tires.... I use Geolander winters for snow, so no winter experience, but street and rain, they run great. When my runner was still stock, I even took them through a heavy mud and rock trail. Got me in and out of every where the FJ cruisers I was with went. Have since got MT's, but I swap them and ride these on the street.

Can you elaborate on your BudBuild skids? Are these just main front and transfer case? Can they be used on stock (not lifted) suspension? Holes line up with factory ones? Statisfaction so far? I threw out my factory one up front after it rattled for years and had the frame bolts hole threads re-tapped twice. Thanks!

Off Topic, but....very quickly...... should be lots of info on bud skids around here. And his site is BudBuilt - Tough Toyota Protection and is a great guy to deal with so any chance to give him a plug......

He makes front section, engine, tranny/transfercase, gas tank and also rear diff skid. can buy all together or as individual parts.

They align to factory holes. I wouldn't think that a lift is needed for them. very satisfied with them, I'm not worried about my underside. Super strong. I have jacked up from them to do a trail repair with no issues.

Thanks! I meant to also (first) say thanks for the feedback on the Geolanders, before I got off-topic-excited about skid plates. I priced them out today to replace my GY Fortera Triple Treads which I've had for 2.5 yrs. and 65k mi. with some tread left but a set of 4 is now over $1k...thus looking at Geolander as next best.

being 16 i didnt have a choice in which tire i got to chose but my mom slapped on some geolander's and they are turning out to be very useful. my one complaint is that they dont fare well in wet conditions
