getting 110V

hey guys,
is there a way to get 110V(to charge some camera battery) out of the cigarette lighter? i've read about inverters, but has anybody done that?

let's say, if i want to use a regular photo camera, or a video camera, or a laptop, how much Watts do I need? i've read the manual for the photo camera but couldn't find anything to help me.

The common wattage for those items are all posted on the website shown if you click the pic of the inverter above. Better yet you can just look at the wattage listed on your charger for the equipment in question. My digi camera is 11W, DV cam 23W. Dont have a laptop to look at right now but s/b under 50W.

Look into those duracell pocket inverters. I just ordered one. Saw it on here on a write up. Great size and they come in 100V and 175V.

Every device with a power supply, like camera battery chargers, laptop PSUs, etc all have say how many watts they draw on the PSU itself.

I don't think quality matters much in terms of the inverter because in the end they are all spec-ed to do the same thing. You don't really care about how clean the power is or how much it fluctuates just to charge a camera. The little charger that you plug into the socket cleans the power for you anyway.

The funny thing is that most of the PSUs on that you connect to the device convert the 110V AC to 12V DC to supply power to the device itself. So technically, you could just get a cigarette adapter plug and just splice the wires if you really wanted to get creative. :artist:
