Getting Code P1135, already Replaced ABS/TRC/VSC module.

I have had a issue with my 4Runner where it lost the speedometer and odometer, cruise control and the check engine, BRAKE, VSC OFF, VSC TRAC, ABS lights all stay on.

After reading around this post I replaced the module and it fixed the speedometer, odometer and cruise control issues immediately so that was definitely part of the problem.

I bought a ODB2 reader and cleared the codes out and I am getting a P1135 code, this may have been a issue for a while, It's been about a year since the lights first came on, so it seems like I may have had a few issues going on.

According to the DTC site it shows this info for Toyota and P1135....

Type: Powertrain - Manufacturer Controlled DTC - Manufacturer Controlled
Description: Air fuel ratio sensor - heater circuit malfunction
Cause: Wiring, air fuel ratio sensor

As far as I can tell it is some sort of sensor that is causing the problem. Has anyone experienced this combination of error codes and lights coming on? It seems odd the BRAKE, VSC OFF, VSC TRAC, ABS lights all come on.

Any tips on what sensor is bad and how to locate it or swap it out is much appreciated. I can do most moderate repairs myself or is this a more complicated fix?

Not to be a smartass, but the code says it all. You have a problem with the air/fuel sensor heater circuit. It's most likely the air/fuel sensor that needs replaced for an internal heater failure, but it could also be a wiring issue. Replace the air/fuel sensor, clear dtc's, and drive around for awhile. Air/fuel sensor is attached to the exhaust upstream of the catalytic converters. I don't think it's the cause of your gauges going wild, but certain dtc's can cause different modules to disable.

What confused me is from looking up that code on line it seems like there could be more than one sensor that causes this error but looking at the part "Denso 234-9002 Air Fuel Ratio Sensor" on Amazon, a ton of users say they had the P1135 on a Toyota so I bet this is the issue. I replaced the air flow sensor and cleared the codes with a ODB reader. Now the check engine light is off and the system is not reporting any codes at all but the dash BRAKE, VSC OFF, VSC TRAC, and ABS lights are still on. Any ideas how to clear these lights?

P1135 code - how to disconnect electrical connector

New A/F sensor arriving tomorrow. Broke 12 mm nuts loose tonight fairly easily. Also removed the 10 mm bolt holding the electrical connector bracket on. Tried to figure out how to disconnect the electrical connector. Have seen online to use a small screwdriver but I couldn't get the connector to "click". I assume one side is shown here on top but is there a tab on the opposite side as well? Any tricks to try? Thanks.

It is a single tab. On top in the photo. Need small screwdriver to wedge the tab up just slightly, then connector comes loose.
