Hello my fellow 4Runner enthusiasts,
I've had the dreaded P0500 code for about a year now. It has minimal impact on the drivability of the car, so I've neglected really diving into it until now.
Here are the details:
- P0500 Code - Vehicle Speed Sensor 'A'
- Typical VSC off/TRAC lights on with the CEL
- ABS light NOT on
- Speedometer, odometer, all gauges WORK
- Cruise control does NOT work
- 4HI, 4LO work without issue
Here's what I've tried:
- Replaced 240k miles instrument cluster with a 130k junkyard cluster
- Replaced the TWO transmission sensors (89413-0C011)
The code returns after I clear it after driving about a quarter mile, without fail.
I've settled on it being the wiring somewhere, but want to consult the hivemind before I start tearing everything apart.
Anyone have experience with this one?
Thanks guys.
