Getting cold, heaters don't work...

It is getting cold here in Uzbekistan, and my 1990 4Runner's heaters don't work.
Can anyone help me with anything before I take apart the dash to get to them? Maybe some tests or anything...

Thanks.

Check to see if you get flow to the heater core. The heater core is a small radiator located behind the firewall and behind the dash. Locate the two hoses that go into and out of the heater core. Turn the climate setting to the red, all the way. Then run and warm up the engine, turn on the heat and feel the hoses. If one is warmer than the other, but both are relatively warm, the heater core is fine.
Is your blower motor not working? Check the first usualls, like the fuses, wires, etc. If that won't do it, you might have to find a new one which is both difficult (live in Uzb) and expensive.
Good luck!

Both blowers work fine. I'll check the hoses today.
Thanks!
Also, are both front and rear heaters fed from the same hoses?

I think I've found the problem. The heating system seems to have been disconnected from the engine. Take a look at the picture. The 1 and the 3 is the hose that is (I think) the Out and the In for the heating system. Then the 2 and the 4 (and 5) is the heating hoses that seem to be looped withing the heating system.
Could you guys take a look at your heating hoses and let me know how they are supposed to be connected.

I don't know what the previous owner did. I know that initially the vehicle was equipped with AC (I still have the AC button) but it was removed (and sold I guess..).

Thanks a lot!

Sorry pal, you will need a 2nd gen owner to look at their system and compare to your picture. I have a 2005 so I can't help you. Buzz around this forum, then try yotatech.com.

No problem, thanks for your hints. I'll look around, but technically, the heating system can't work if it's not connected to the engine?...
I think what I need to figure out is where is the intake in the engine and intake in the heating system...
Thanks again..

There should be a valve that the control cable from the dash for heat-cold goes. Suspect it was where the big hose is now. I'll see if there is a photo or diagram in the Chiltons or Yota shop manual I have. If so I'll scan it in and send it to you.

Thanks, any diagrams will definitelly help.
I have looked on the internet and couldn't find anything so far.
I'd appreciate your help guys.
