Getting New tires, rims, & left (Need help!!)

Alright so I'm sick of the 22"s and the other day I had a good offer on them so I figured I'd sell them and get something new. I've decided to go with the 18" KMC Skitch and for the tires Nitto Trail Grapplers 285/65, but here's my problem. When I went to order them today at a local shop called "RPM Offroad" I was told they would not fit even with a Toytec 3" spacer/spring/diff drop. He said X-reas had something to do with it and that I could go with a whole new suspension system for $1200 and that everything would fit.

Here's where I need help, what all do I need to where I can make this rim and tire combo fit w/ x-reas?? I've never been into the small rim big tire combo so I'm kinda of a n00b at this.. so all the help is greatly appreciated!

The 285/65/18 is the same as the 285/70/17's that a lot of folks run. From what I hear, you'll need at least a 3/2 lift. You can get a spacer lift that'll be compatible with XREAS and give you the clearance you need. You'll probably still need some trimming. I know I've read that some with that size, a 3/2 lift, and a 1.5" body lift still have some rubbing. A good alternative would be 275/65/17 if you don't wanna deal with that. They will be a little shorter and a little narrower, should take much less effort to fit them (still may need a lift, just less trimming with it on there).
 
If your car domain page is correct with what you are currently running then the tire size you have selected is only 1/2 in taller and would only be 1/4 all the way around

So if the backspacing and offset on your new rims is the same on what you are running now you should be ok unless you are rubbing now or are close to rubbing now

Also you could get rid of the xreas for less then 1200 without install you could get a full ome kit for around 800ish

But in my opinion I would go with a 17in rim and go a 265/70/17 tire would fit no problem with your current lift the 285/65/18 might looked stuffed under there without getting a bigger lift just my opinion hope this helps good luck and post pictures

Look at (American Eagle) Eagle Alloy 063, it's pretty similar to the skitch, I almost bought the machined ones but backed out.

There are a ton of wheels out there, you really should just check out the KMC XD series, pro comp wheels, american racing (ATX), eagle alloy, method, mickey thompson, and other wheel manufacture websites. Those are all brands with pretty good reviews overall and several different styles of off road wheels.

There are also a lot of cheaper brands out there that I dunno if I'd trust, such as Fuel, Black Mamba, Ultra, GFX, Black Rhino. They may be good but I haven't seen them on as many off road vehicles as the previously mentioned brands.

edit: Also, regardless of size, I don't know how good those Skitches would hold up off road (if you plan on off roading) since they're a truck & suv street (not off road) wheel

I did and i absolutely love it!! Go for it and put some 285/70/17's or 285/65/18's on there!! Ask CrimsonCountry about his "OME" set up and 285/65/18's, it looks bad ass!!

Heres mine with OME 885's+spacer and superflex coils with Bilstein 5100's at all 4 corners and 285/70/17 destination AT's.

Alright I've got the new rims/tires on.. sorry Hamilton but I had to copy you and go with the Eagle Alloy's that you had! Yes mysticz they are the 265/70.. I really wanted to go with the 285/70 but they definitely wouldn't fit with my Cornfed 2/1, and sorry for the crappy cell phone pics.. I'll create a new thread in a few days with high quality pics.

Its cool man glad we could help you out with your decision. But yeah the Pics aren't working? It probably rides better now huh?
 
Moving down to get high flotation back. Right on. If I could, I would go with 15 inch rims to get the largest ratio of tire to rim. With bead lockers, makes for excellent air down properties. :)

High Flotation all the way.
 
What tire/size did you end up going with? I'm thinking about keeping the SportEdition 17's and just plastidipping them black...Still debating!

Looks sexy on your runner though!

Casper, I'm going to have to ask you to quit posting pics of your ome/285's.....getting sick of seeing them until I can afford 285's to go along with my ome setup! ha ha. Here she is with the little pizza cutter tires and ome.
