Gibson Exhaust from Burtmann

Just had a new stainless steel exhaust I purchased from Burtmann installed on my 2006 4runner V8.

Worth the wait? Yes. I've had runner going on 10 years now (purchased in December 2005) and figured, what the heck, why not?

I had it installed at Zury Fabrications in Elkridge, MD; I had the tip welded on and bent to exhaust out the side behind the rear passenger tire. So far so good. It's quiet at idle, doesn't drone too much and whatever drone is there should lessen once it is broken in.

Pics if requested.

Actually, if you can post up a decent quality video from about 10 to 20 feet away of the sound that would be cool. Pretty sure I have a small exhaust leak going on by the CAT flange on my v8 and im thinking the gibson cat back is going on this year.

Too bad it drones, I'll be needing to replace mine since my muffler is really banged up but any drone is a deal breaker for me. I can't imagine any break in on an exhaust system, nothing should change from use.

i barely notice any drone on my Gibson i just installed. I have roughly 300 miles on it so far.

It has gotten deeper since installation. But i only hear it upon take off and really getting into it. I sit at 2100 RPMs for 70 miles a day with it. I consider it to be quite pleasant.

It's more than manageable, and not the brain-numbing type of drone you would get from another exhaust. I have a 2005 mini that I'm having a branch resonator installed on because the drone is so bad. In the 4runner, when I first heard the exhaust from the interior, I was disappointed because I thought it should be louder, but after driving around a little while, it's perfect. It's loud when it needs to be and quiet at idle and cruising (maybe about 7-10% louder at certain speeds.).

Got my installed this afternoon. The whole process was quick and easy. Sound is okay...to the cheap side with slightly drone between 65-70 mph. I used to have the Borla cat back system that came with the truck and it was day & night compare to the Gibson. Overall, Gibson is good low budget replacement for your rusted out OEM exhaust. One thing I did not like is the none-rolled lip exhaust tip. I'll replacing it tomorrow with the old tip from my OE system.
