Hah! Sadly all the nails have been picked up on pavement... The tire folks told me that they've been seeing a ton of it lately and they think it's because of a pretty crazy hail storm in AZ back in October. It was pretty bad (almost $3k in damage on my 4R!!). Many home roofs were damaged and they've associated the increase in tire damage is due to roofing nails falling off worker trucks.

The split sidewall was not on pavement though....

My overall theory is that the Wrangler AT's I used to have were a curse on my 4Runner... My spare is still one of the Wranglers and I'm not sure I'm OK with that!
