Glad to be back in 4runner

Well a few years ago I sold my 02' because it wasn't a 4wd and bought a suburban (I have regretted it ever since). So this past week I sold the sub (it was a fun toy, but expensive to keep up). Last night I picked up this 99' 4wd and I already love it and I'm so happy to only own Toyota's again. The first 4 pics are of my new one, and the last one is my 02' when it was lifted.

Nice looking 99! I did pretty much the same thing. I totaled a 99 then decided I wanted something a little bigger so I got a Tahoe. The new on the Tahoe wore off and I started longing for another 4runner. I found my 97 on Craigslist and jumped on it.

Thanks. Im going to leave it alone for a bit (going to try at least). The running boards are going to come off and I may try and up the tires to 265/75/16 and and get some new wheels (black method standards). Right now i'm just fixing little stuff (crappy stereo wiring and only one speaker). I went to pick-a-part a few weeks ago and found some 9 wrap lc springs, but I probably will be getting rid of those for smaller springs.

Time for some updates. So I have been slowly acquiring parts. I found some 8 wrap coils and some bilstein shocks at the local pic-a-part and picked up and adjustable panhard bar from sonoran steel . I picked up a set of 265/75/16 Goodyear's off craigslist for $200. Then this week I found a set of Donahoe coilovers and picked them up for cheap. So tomorrow I'm taking the day off from work and will spend the day wrenching of the 4runner (that is after I get my new methods installed). :whoo::plane::bounce:

Here are the coil overs. And I have named it the Black Pearl, even have a small lego Capitan Jack hanging from the mirror. I also picked up a 01-02 Grille and color matched it.

Awesome 4Runner. I just recently did the exact thing, had a '99 and traded it in for a Cummins. Regretted it everyday for 2 years and finally bought a '98 2 weeks ago :)

Its a great feeling to have back isn't it?!

So I finnally got around to installing all of the parts I had been collecting. My donahoes ended up needing a full rebuild, new shafts, one top and all new uniballs. It spent all weekend in the garage at my parent's place while I worked on it (had to spend some time with the kids too). The only parts I didn't get on was my extended rear brake line and lower ball joints. Also pictured is my painted 02' grille and 02' tails.

Looking good. We live around the same area. Let me know next time you go out wheeling locally. Maybe we can meet up.
