GO Lakers!

Wow,starting a playoff thread this late;kinda took all the fun out of trash talking for the last month.

Magic in seven just so this thread isn't just Laker fans slapping each other's butts for 4 pages. ;):

I don't even think it will take 7, Magic in 6. The Lakers cannot match up to Orlando just like Cleveland could not. Quite honestly the Lakers would have been much better off against Cleveland, they have no one that can even slow Howard down, and every time they double or triple him those outside threats will start knocking down 3's.

i hate the lakers...ugh. i went to game 3 in Denver that was sad. i couldnt even finish watching game 6 nuggets played terrible

Go Orlando. im glad the NBA didnt get their wish though with the kobe vs lebron finals.

Lakeshow have 3 seven footers and 3 6'10" players if they go big, it's going to be Orlando who has an issue matching up - plus Orlando lives and dies by the three point game. If they are not making perimeter shots they have nothing else and Howard is not Labron James - he is not going to beat you alone (assumed that he is being gaurded sufficiently as possible). Sure he is going to get his 30+ pts, but where is the rest of the help going to come from when Bynum, Gasol, Odom are pounding the boards and Kobe is slashing...

I think it's going to be a good series and go down to the wire.
:bigok:

Yes they have a few big guys height wise, but that in no way means they play like a true 7'. As an example, the Celtics could have thrown Mikey Moore on Howard being a 7', but we all know Howard would toss him around much like he is going to toss Bynum and Gasol around. And while Orlando does use the 3 pointer, they are also very athletic and will out run the Lakers very easily. I understand everyone seems to think the Lakers are so great but they are highly overrated and were owned by Orlando in the regular season. Simple fact is LA cannot and will not put Orlando away, but we will all see that beginning Thursday evening. And the even simpler fact, and heres where everyone starts saying I'm crazy, had KG not gone down, the Celtics would be hoisting #18 to the rafters as they will do next year.

You got that right, KG is a stud. How awesome would it have been to see LA & Boston in back to back NBA Finals - regardless of outcome!

All I can say at this point is I hope it's a great series and will be sad that the season is coming to an end already.

I fully agree that this years playoffs have not let down at all. I am really looking forward to the finals, and even though I think Orlando will win, please don't think I'm saying it won't be a great series. There will be great games right down to the wire and I can't wait.

And yes, another LA Boston series would have been fantastic, but I think people are happy to see Orlando there. We'll just have to see if the aging crew can stay healthy next season.

At least someone cares about the finals -

I live in Orlando and I can tell you without a doubt that there's about 87 people who know the Magic are in the finals and the rest don't care. I've only lived here for two years so my loyalties aren't that strong, but people have lived here their whole life and could care less.

If I'd known how lame of a sports town this place was, I probably would've gone somewhere else!

I was happy that the Mag beat Lebron though. He's a great player but he's approaching that Kobe territory where he pouts and throws a hissy fit when he doesn't get a call. :sobbing:

Or walks off the court like a baby and doesn't even realize how incredibly classless he looks. I mean, not even going over and shaking the other guys hands, he can fool himself into thinking he's too competitive, but the fact is he's just a sore loser.

You are crazy and it is a bit pretentious to say that and Boston would be a different team in they played in the West conference.

If Boston is hoisting the trophy in a year I'll use KG as my avatar for a month.

Oooh, the tough West, how scary! Boston made a mockery of LA last year and Orlando will do the same this year. Kobe is a spoiled kid who doesn't know how to be a team player when he really needs to be. Denver couldn't even compete until they got a star from the East, and Houston having a big 3 makes me laugh harder than just about anything else. San Antonio is done and Portland isn't even close yet. So tell me, who in the West is so great? Phoenix, New Orleans?

As for next year, time will tell if the old guys can stay healthy, as I said in a previous post. If they do stay healthy I don't see who can beat Boston. Everyone wrote the C's off when KG went down, most didn't even think they'd get by Chicago. Instead they came out and made a deep run with what they had, one of the best point guards, 2 perennial all stars, and a fantatstic center. Nest year Rondo and Perkins have that much more experience and confidence, Marbury is regaining his form, Glen Davis will continue improving and the big 3 is the big 3. I foresee a KG avatar in someones future.

I'd still like to see the Celts spend a whole season in the West.

Detroit,Chicago,Philly? They couldn't even finish better than .500 and made the playoffs. Only 3 teams from the East finished with a better record than the 8th seed Jazz.

The Celts weren't a finals team til they got KG from where? Oh yeah, the West. Ray Allen is from the West too and you wouldn't have won without either.

And KG was worth those 7 players from the East by far.

I was rooting for the Celts to beat the Lakers last year so I am not a hater just a realist and I do hope the Magic win this year.

You make some good points Ron, and I agree that Paul was not winning on his own, did it have to be Ray and KG, no, but it just happened those were the guys we got our hands on. I do strongly feel that in Boston's case East or West makes no huge difference, the talent level speaks for itself and when they are healthy Boston cannot be beat.

As far as this years finals I look at it this way, round 1 clearly goes to LA, I won't take a thing away from them. I will also admit I was impressed by Bynum, I did not expect he could body up Howard as well as he did. But that's all it was, round 1, Orlando is not done by any means and I am looking forward to game 2.

Now the Magic are fighting history against Phil Jackson's 43-0 series record when he wins game 1s.:jaw drop:

I can't believe this thread was started by a Laker fan and then it's two guys talking up the Magic who are now unfortunatly in the hole they probably won't be climbing out of.
