Sorry in advance for the long response!
I did not even know a sight glass existed until your response. I have been so intrigued. How cool! Thank you for teaching me something new.
When I first looked, I occasionally saw a milky white substance that, for lack of a better description, looked like a small tornado. I have checked several times since and now I do not see anything, no bubbles or movement at all. I am not sure whether that means there is no liquid or if it is simply running so smoothly that it is hard to see. (If that is even a possibility!)
To give a bit of context, I am a 5’0” blonde woman who looks younger than I am. I take my car to a specific shop because I can walk to and from my house to there, so I do not need to rely on anyone for transportation. However, they do have a reputation for trying to take advantage of people (my uncle included).
While I do not claim to know a bunch about cars, I try to learn as much as I can and do myself whatever is within my ability. For someone without male help, I have always taken pretty good care of my vehicle. I am quite attached to her and would prefer to keep her running as long as possible. (Not a huge fan of the look of the newer models. I love my old girl. lol) That being said, I always try to educate myself before going in, just to avoid being talked into unnecessary services.
Any advice on what to ask or say when I go in would be greatly appreciated. Also, for reference, I have not had any work done on the AC since I bought the car in 2013. So perhaps the Freon just needs to be recharged?
