Advantages of plastic over metal cans (and the reasons why I stick with plastic)

1. They won't rust and taint your gas in long term storage.
2. They won't create a static spark, possibly burning down whatever it is you're putting fuel in.
3. They don't explode like metal cans can (they melt) when exposed to fire.
4. They're much lighter to lift if you're transporting in a BajaRack.

Some folks have said metal will hold up better in outdoor conditions (UV can cause plastic to crack), but they're so much cheaper than metal cans that the cost outweighs the concerns.

Just some things to consider.

I really like these VP jugs... just kinda forgot about them after mine disappeared.
Only $30/jug and $10/spout. Can get one with a ball valve shut-off too.
They come in pretty much any color you would want. Square or round jugs.
They pour fairly fast and don't get gas all over me.
Just don't slosh the gas forward as you start to pour.
I laid this new one on the floor on its side ,full of gas,over night and no leaks, just for a test.
Also for whatever reason this can does not seem to build pressure, when you open the vent it wont release air. Seems weird. edit...they actually will build up pressure like any other jug will.

I understand exactly what you mean, and I accidentally discovered that two will fit in this beautifully.

Its slightly bigger than a traditionally used jerry can holder, however, I have this box mounted on my trailer and two will fit very nicely and will have little to no wiggle room. As a matter of fact, I actually don't feel the need to secure them with any straps, but I do out of caution and I have a cable lock that I run through the handles. Note - VP also makes a round can an I have not tried this box with the round can.

I like the simplicity of the design and reasonable price, but, its irregular shape will not work for my standard jerry can holder. I have a Scepter that will serving extra fuel duty for now.

I’m getting old(er). But putting up and retrieving a full 5gal container of gas on the roof is a bit*h. I prefer a couple of the 3gal Rotopax jobs. I know they’re pricey as hell but if you store them empty in your garage or out of the sun when not in use they will most likely last for the rest of your expedition days. Buy once cry once.

Don't know if these are any good, I have had an old US mil surplus one in the back of the T4R for a long time and it has come in handy a number of times.
