Gobi and other options

~~~Upgraded Rear Hatch Struts / Gas Springs~~~
As many of you have also experienced, my rear hatch gas struts blew out a month or so ago. I spent the last few weeks searching for a replacement solution that would offer more lift to accommodation the Gobi Ladder and be as close of a direct "snap on" replacement as possible.
Well.... I FOUND IT!!!!!
After ordering 3 different pairs of struts with no luck, I came upon LiftSupportsDepot.com One of the very helpful employees invited me to stop by so we could try out a few different struts and see which one worked.
Those with the Gobi Ladder, here is what you want:
Lift Supports
When you order, you must put in the comments section the following: "Convert to 10mm straight ends"
Part#49124 244LB Force 22.7" Extended 15.45" Collapsed
Other than that, they give the hatch the perfect amount of lift, they are an easy upgrade or replacement of yours are already blown, and best of all, thy are DIRT CHEAP!!!! How does $17 / each sound!
Anywho. Thought I would share, I am happy to have my hatch back up and functional again, I got tired of resting it on my head as I grab my crap out of the back.

Wanted to make sure that it would fit on the 2014-15 i didnt think that they would have changed it but oh well who knows these das.
This is one of my last mods I really want to do and still so torn between baja, camel and gobi. Very tough to spend an additional 500 over the others. I have no use for the ladder in the rear so that doesn't really interest me. The only thing that would sway me more is I havne't really seen good pictures of the full length baja with the 5" tall sides versus the 'flat'. I want a rack with a small lip to help gear stay up top and not a complete flat rack...wish my w4's would show up!!!

Also, on my list of mods. $1500 is hard to swallow and I'm still needing a lift. I was bummed to hear they raise the price from last year.

That is why it can take most people a while to get there trucks setup or never really finished. I think that most who have been doing this for a while end up selling previous mods and use that for the newer mods or they have different needs than others. I looked at what was available and made a choice that fits my needs the most, in reality most do not need much more than the factory rackk, and or either a thule/yakima accessory. Most use it for looks justifying that they can carry a big spare tire fuel water zombie apocolypse just in case shit and it can be a wasted mod. Other transport heavy items, use it as a camera platform, have the cargo area in the truck full from dogs and or kids, or mount rooftop tents and awnings.

Ok, here is the link to the aftermarket HD Hatch Strut that I ordered,CLICK HERE also make sure you out into the note convert the ends to 10mm Straight Ends. With shipping the two struts where $56.23. The Gobi HD Struts are $150.
Either of these are needed for when a ladder is added to the hatch either Govi, Baja, Etc... Or any weight as others have difficulty with the factory struts holding up the hatch with the extra weight or premature failure. The factory struts are quite expensive. I would think that this could also be a good option for others looking for a direct placement.
I do not take credit for the research on this. The replacement was found by another member here. Just posting a direct link with help of others and the site we are getting them from for future reference.

I'm selling some to pay for my mods. Silly perhaps but I got the mod bug.
In my neck of the woods we get to have SBR's so hiding them is a non-issue. :eyebrows::eyebrows::eyebrows:
