Gobi Rack - Advantage and disadvantages

e60ral, you are not going to convince those that don't want to be convinced but I applaud your attempt at facts and gathering some info. To that point, I don't have to justify sh!t to anybody on this board and my eyes are not blind. Love what I got and I'm going to use it whenever I can. I hope others love the rack they have and do the same.

LoL, You seem to be the one with the hurt feelings there internet hero. My feelings are rock solid and we're all still waiting for your truth and "facts". It's obvious someone really hurt your feelings over this. I guess it all happened before I purchased my 4runner, idk. I just saw a useful tool on here that lots of people seemed to speak well of so I got one for my needs. I have no idea of lawsuits or whatnot but if Gobi won the suit I guess they were somewhat right. No real clue though as I don't know the facts.
I actually really did like the drabbits rack a ton but all the problems with quality, no communication, 10mo.-1 year wait time put me off. None of these racks are perfect so we just get what we can. Not all of us are privy to all the inside info you have. :hail:

I just placed my order through the Gobi site. I got the full length with 40" light bar option, removable crossbars and requested no rise in the front(thanks to all who had input on that). Any idea how long I'll be waiting?

I ordered my rack 8 weeks ago. They don't really seem to have a schedule. I've called a few times, and every time I get a different answer. Someone on the board just received his rack, and he said it took 14 weeks for delivery, so that most likely is the what they are taking right now. I had one on my old 4runner and loved it! They are definitely worth the wait!

Ordered December thru group buy and just scheduled delivery for Thursday. Def a lot longer than their 12 weeks but I didn't really need it till the spring/ summer

I can't figure how they take so long to make a rack that really isn't "custom". How long did you have to wait for them to call you for payment? Do they take payment up front or not bill you until 47 months later when they start building?:crybaby:

If you order through Trail Duty, you get charged immediately. If you order through Gobi, they will charge you before they ship.

I did the former not knowing about this. So yah, paid 14 weeks ago which is why this is kind of frustrating.

I love my gobi, only thing is I wish it was maybe 1-2 wider so as to make keeping things like maxtrax laid down flat easier.

No complaints, its a great rack #likeyourmothertrebek!

Hey replying to your old post... But they are making a stealth specific mount for the maxxtrax I spoke with them the other day about it. currently in RnD. release is TBD

I ordered mine on April 1st, 2017 and I was told it would ship last week (July 10th). Nothing yet.

I ordered mine with the no-rise option up front, so I'm not sure if that's causing a delay. :/

Got the shipping email after inquiring on status late last week:

No tracking available. Now begins the waiting for the freight company to call. :/

I have an idea but I don't know if it will ever come to fruition. I love the idea of a basic camping / "overlanding" trailer. Gear storage on the bottom and a RTT on top. That said I won't spend like $8k on one. I doubt I've ever take it seriously offroading either - just forest service roads, dispersed camping areas, etc. I want to get a semi basic tub style utility trailer, bolt the factory roof rails on each side, and throw a set of Yakima towers/crossbars I have over that. That way I have a nice, easy, cheap way to mount a RTT to the top of a trailer.
