Gobi Rack - Advantage and disadvantages

How difficult is it to switch between OEM and GOBI roof racks? Once I put GOBI, can I go back to OEM easily? Does putting GOBI roof rack damage the body of the car at all?

Everything is a direct fit and can be restored to stock with no problems.

If you're not careful, I am thinking there are four possible ways that could cause damage. All can be mitigated easily.

1) Removing the end caps off the stock rails. Some have used the edge of the roof to leverage their pry tool and dent the roof.
FIX: If you use care and follow the instructions to remove the caps, you won't have a problem. I put down a towel just to be sure.

2) Water intrusion staining the headliner.
FIX: Use RTV silicon as many have advised in this forum.

3) The wind deflector scratches your paint.
FIX: Use the clear film that comes with it.

4) Too much weight.
FIX: Keep the weight under 300lbs.

The rack will not damage anything. There isn’t a problem going back to stock. However it would be a pita to uninstall and I would only do it if I were selling the vehicle. It is not meant to be taken on and off like a roof basket on top of stock rails.

Starting to look at roof racks. Is the Gobi really worth the extra $1,000 (compared to Victory or Prinsu? I'm not really interested in adding extra lights to the rack. Just something, strong, durable and looks good that I can attach camping/other things too.

Sunroof pictures?

Does anyone have a pic from the inside through the sunroof with the Gobi stealth installed? With the cutout obviously. I have been scouring the internet to find one and am unable. Just wondering if it cuts down on any visibility from the inside out.

Does not cut down on any visibility. I also climb out the sunroof to get up top sometimes vs accessing via ladder or wheel as i find it easier lol, for whatever its worth. So the sunroof cutout serves dual purposes...

Yes, Gobi Stealth with no-rise. Rack is great, haven't noticed any additional wind noise over the stock rails with a Rola basket which was what I had up there previously. No regrets about the Gobi decision.

I see that the review rating for the Gobi Racks storefront in Colorado isn't all that great. Would y'all suggest having someone else install or is it pretty easy to install yourself? I'm looking at the stealth rack.

Just have GOBI install it for free when it’s ready. If you are local that is. They did mine just fine. Took them about 30 mins

This seems ideal. I got a sunroof with my OFP and have been worried about just covering it up with the full length prinsu rack. I just wish it wasn’t so expensive.
