Gobi Stealth: no rise vs standard

Last month i placed an order for a ladder only. Last week I called to change my order to the full gobi stealth rack. I wanted to mount one side of the RTT to the front and use a removable bar for the rear. Now i'm wondering if i do need the no rise to do this? I'm guessing i would need two removable bars to mount the RTT since the standard option front doesnt sit flush with the rear.

Absolutely get the no rise. If you want your RTT to be up front, get the no rise.

A lot of my friends are jealous of my no rise because they want to do a similar configuration as you are talking about and they have the rise.

Plus if you ever wanted to do a hardshell RTT you have to have the no rise.

For me I dont have a RTT and probably wont (I like camping on the ground) but for Kayaks and packing the no rise was a the right choice for me. Plus I dont plan on ever having a light bar up there which is their main reason for having the rise.

Yeah if you're not putting some insane light set up on the front, the no rise really only feels like a disadvantage if you're trying to load anything long and flat up there.

I believe the removable bar option is a no-cost option so that wouldn't be a big deal to change, finance-wise.

I didn't know Gobi had a no-rise option! I was looking at other options because I did not want the rise to mount a large RTT. Thanks for this thread!

I want to get the no-rise. I measured 9” from roofline to lowest point of garage door. Can i still park in garage??

I ordered my no-rise on March 20th (2 weeks after you) and the waiting is killing me. Any news on yours? I'm hoping the are getting more efficient and I can get it late next month..

Can anyone else put up a pic of their no rise with a single light bar? Also I don't think its flat out been said but I'm guessing a no rise would not fit a double light bar between the faring and the top front tube...? If thats the case it sounds like one would be better off with a standard if they were going to put in a double light bar. Thanks

Here is a picture of mine with a 40" Aurora single row.

Here is a view from the rear of the rack with a 6" Aurora single row.

Both stick up slightly about 1/4 to 1/2". I used the 1" pipe insulation I bought from Home Depot when I need to lay something on top of the rack and it clears the lights.

Right, there's no way a dual row light bar will fit under the top front bar. If you use the standard light bar mounts from Gobi, the top of the light will be about 3" higher than the top bar. Plus there'll be a lot of wind noise. I even get a considerable amount of noise with my single row.

I would not expect it until August. I ordered first week of September and it landed in my driveway first week of February.

I just wanted to add to this thread. I have a Gobi Stealth No-Rise and picked up the IKamper Skycamp 2.0. This RTT is a wide as a king size bed and parallels most larger tents. If you are loading more than two people in the tent, get the no-rise. The IKamper fits perfectly on the footprint of the Gobi rack and still allows the rear hatch to fully open.

For anyone who is curious about the removable cross bars that come with the Gobi, they are more than capable to support the weight of the tent. It also makes the removal of the tent very easy. I pull the 4Runner into the garage, unbolt the cross bars (not the RTT mounts) and use 2 of these to raise it off the truck.

2019 ORP, KDSS, RCI aluminum skid package and RCI sliders (still w/ stock suspension and tires) ... and stealth no-rise. Garage door opening is just shy of 7' and I have ~5-6" to spare. I'll be able to change up the tires, but no lift in my future for a while.

I have a 2" Front / 1.5" Rear lift and I can drive through tiered parking garages that have 7' clearances. I have to tell you, it freaks me out. I actually use my stock radio antenna as a gauge. If that scrapes, I stop and reverse out quickly.

Recently installed my no-rise and parked in the O' Hare garage 30 minutes ago with a 6'6" clearance. I measured before leaving home but was still a bit worried.

I have truck lifted 1 3/4" in the front and airbags in the back which were aired down but still keep the springs a bit stiff.

Also have 285 tires.

Love the Gobi no-rise.

Can any one give the height of the no rise rack off the roof? I have a 2019 TRDP and am looking to replace the roof basket with something a little more useful. That basket adds about 7 inches and I was reading that the stealth with rise adds about 6.5 inches. What does the no rise add in height? Right now I have the the TRDP at stock height and with the basket it clears my garage door with less than an inch to spare. Hopeing with a no rise I could actually add some height on the suspension and tires and actually still fit in the garage.

Just adding to the poll, I have the regular rise and regularly carry a large two person kayak flat on it as well as 12' lumber with no problems.

Looking at the spec sheet on Gobi's website, the regular stealth adds 5" in the rear and 7" in the front. I just measured by no-rise and the highest point is in the front at 5-3/4".

The standard rack has a top rail raised up a little higher on the front edge. No rise sets it level.
