Notice not 'installed'. Just got it in from freight 5 minutes ago, we'll be installing it at 3:30 with lots of pictures. I'll end up making a photo friendly write up supplement similar to the one I did with the ladder. Here's a quick cell phone teaser picture. There's also another ladder included with the rack but man this thing is huge!

Well its $1300 for the rack and $200 for the ladder but this was part of an endorsement deal.

We took our time reading everything and lining it up. Everything is solid I don't even know where to begin. Obviously the more descriptive details will be in the article when its published but I'll see if I can answer any questions.

As some of you have seen the rack has 6 main mounting points, 4 of which mount and lock inside the stock roof channels and 2 which adhere to the body itself in the front. Well after aligning and locking the 4 in the back I saw almost no reason to pull the sticky tape off the front 2 mounts, they're just pressed down onto the body. I don't see anything they could really improve everything was done exactly how I would have wanted it to be. No looking at parts and wondering what the hell it is, everything about this design and the sources of integrity just make sense. Enjoy!

wow dude that rig is sick. i want mine to look like that. is that an FJ rack or was it specially made for the runner?? whats this endorsement deal?

man that is frigg'n sweet, the blacked out look played out well for you can't wait to see it with the larger fender flares!

i would totally buy one of these racks if they were say in the 600-800 range, but 1.3K is a bit out of this world for a rack, but don't think for a second if i had the cash i wouldn't buy one of these i really like it, it's just in the grand scheme of things 1.3K is a whole lot of stuff for the ride.

other things you can buy for 1.3K

a complete lift

new wheel/tire combo

supercharger

arb bumper front or rear

sliders,skids,diff covers, ect (full armor)

1 night with a good hooker

and so on....

that said you already got most of that stuff (minus the hooker)so why the f' not go for the rack?
point being don't let other knock you for spending that much, like i said before if i had the cash i know i would!

I can understand where you're coming from with the price but if there ever was an option offered in the price range it would be this. Regardless of what some may think they can sell it for this because for those who have a healthier budget this is exactly what they want, and Gobi caters to that. Hence the reason they specialize and are contracted by Hummer for their racks. Its a great option that some will truly appreciate.

LINY, it is low profile but it doesn't hinder its ability, the snowboards fit great, jerry cans secure properly and the optional hi lift and axe holders are going to mount pretty slick on the sides. With a moving weight limit of 300 lbs. and static weight of 600 lbs. it has a laundry list of abilities.

Cropped pictures above for better perspective

Your runner looks great! Also the rack looks like it is well built. The only thing of concern is the price, I understand that they would like to cater to the individual who has no price limit. But regardless of their target audience, this would move a bit quicker if it was priced at about 600.00-700.00. Any news on a future group buy for us members? perhaps a subtantial discount?

Understandable, and thus if you dropped it even further you'd expect them to move even more. But this is one of many racks that Gobi makes, I've seen that the racks made for the newer 4runners and FJ's are more popular within their respective crowds. I also get the argument for other things, but after you've lifted locked and boosted your engine, what's next? Point being there is always something to intrigue you and there is always going to be the Mercedes-eseque class of items. Honestly after some time with it if I had the money and I was in the market I would purchase one. I feel like my whole truck has transformed within an hour or so.

Either way it'll get its true test this weekend during snowboarding and wheeling

Funny you say that, I work for a MBZ dealership and I can relate to what gobi would like to appeal to. They don't want to make their items seem cheap by lowering their price. But it would still be nice to get a group buy.... just a thought..

You know I got grief for having a $450 Baja Rack and like you dont regret it one bit. I think that rack is sexy and very functional. I like the fact they left the area above the sun roof open and that it goes all the way forward so if you mount lights you dont have to worry about a hot spot on your roof or not being able to aim them low enough to cover a black spot.
