Nice choice! I will soon be going with the AT3's on mine as well. I obsessed in my search and settled on those.

Out of your list I hope you chose the Coopers, based on multitudes of reviews I have seen for years they're good tires. However having personally owned both Bridgestone duelers and terra grapplers I can say they are both rubbish. The Bridgestones were so tame and street mannered that they failed at anything that wasn't a Tarmac road.

Terra grapplers wore out in under 20,000 miles. Put dueler revo AT's on and like the other duelers way too street mannered IMO. I am now rocking my third set of BFG T/A KO's though, they usually last longer than I own a truck.

Toyo the premium brand and nittos are their lower level tires. Same company.

What are you using the truck for? All street? I'd go Michelin. Light off road? Nitto TG, but the sidewalks are weak, I wrecked two tires hitting them on rocks. Snow and offroad? Duratracks, but they are louder on the street.

you'll be happy with the coopers, i ran them for about a year before needing mud terrains. after 10,000 miles i sold the set for a little over 300 and paybe about 640 for all four brand new. they looked a little under half life tread at 10,000. When i first mounted them they were extremely quiet but after about 8,000 they grew a little louder but IMO great All terrain tire. two winters ago we had a real heavy ice storm me and some buddies road down from monroe NC to chesterfeild SC to play in the ice an snow with there jeeps. its about about a 45 minute ride, anyways we got out there (ran about 45-60mph on the road to get ther) played around offroad, then drove back, my buddy michael had a blow out in his jeep on the way home. the jeep slid over into the opposite lane mike held on to it got it sliding back the other way and got it stoped (in the right lane lol) once everyone got stoped to help him out. we all steped out of our trucks about the same time and everyone of us busted our ass's on the ice as soon as we steped out. evidently we had been driving on about an inch thick piece of ice completely blanketing the road. True testiment to the cooper all terain i ran about 55mph the hole way there and back didnt spin, slip slide once(other than intentionally around corners), didnt even know i was driving on ice!

If you're saying your cooper all terrains lasted 10,000 miles and had 50% tread wear then I would say that Cooper all terrains are absolute rubbish. I have put close to 6,000 miles on my 3rd set of BFG T/A KO's and they still look brand new.

personally I've seen way better milelage out of my mickey thompsons than i saw out of the cooper a/t's an i agree with you on the BFG's i've never heard one complaint out of any BFG owner. However theres a signifigant price difference in the Cooper all terrains and the BFG's you get what you pay for unless your buying nitto then your just buying a name lol.

Agreed that does not sound impressive in the least.

If the T/A KO's came in a ''P'' rated tire, I'd be all over them.

The tread pattern is completely different from duratracs. Goodyear is the parent company but I have never seen anything other than speculation that they share any rubber compounds.

I've had them on there 15k miles and can't even tell they have wear on them at all. The noise isn't any more than a BFG A/T and they handle great. I really would highly recommend these. A few of my friends have got them after seeing the tires and none have had anything bad to say about them yet.

They have gone up since I got them at $227/tire though.

The reason I went with the Cooper AT3's is because they have a 50,000 mile warranty on them. If it is true that they were at 10,000 miles and you said there was 50% tread left, then at least I can rely on the warranty. It is good to know that they have great traction on ice and off road! If I had the budget to spend more on tires at the moment then I would be getting the Goodyear DuraTracs or the BFG AT KO's, but I don't, so I am going with the next best option which IMO are the Cooper's based on reviews.

like I said you'll be happy with there performance it's all personal experience and budget options. I'm sure anyone with enough money would buy the most top of the line tire plus I didn't say 10,000 was 50% tread wear I said it was less than 1/2 life I never put a tread gauge on it. hell they could've been closer to 3/4 tread the guy I sold them to was def. happy to get them for 300 lol the main thing to feel good about here is. you got a qaulity set of tires with a tread life waranty thats gonna get u where u need to go over the next few years IMO be glad u got tires period

I was not trying to say you purchased a bad set of tires, I just think its a bit of a stretch to claim its the same tire as Goodyears flagship all terrain.

No need to justify yourself, I am all about saving a little money when you can, so I understand your purchase.

17k miles on my nitto tg's. Aligned before installed, never rotated, wearing good with around +half tread left. Soft rubber for sure. Ride good. Minimal noise about average for an AT tire. Hard to tell if they have good traction thanks to ATRAC. Hooks good in all situatins, even ice imho. These stories of TG's only lasting 20k miles is hard to believe with proper alignment and rotation.

Not that hard to believe considering my 2500HD weighed in over 8,000# which is double what your 4Runner weighs and the tire only comes with 13/32" tread depth when brand new. Tire wear starts to become a problem very quickly...

:iagree: I understand that a fullsize truck with IFS will eat tires. I own a 97 chevy w/ 33" mastercraft M/T's {cheap} on 12" wide M/T wheels that is on its 3rd year and nearing 20k miles as well. I align/roatate it every year. Still have over 1/2 tread available. I also own a 07 duramax 2500hd and it requires more rotations due to its weight and my driving style. Tuned to 450hp now and it will eat tires fast if you press the accelerator.

Since this is a 4runner thread....Nitto TG's have performed well on my 4runner. Especially for the price I paid. Wholesale.

The Cooper Discoverer AT's that I decided on...

I just got them installed today! Here is a picture of the end result...

I am very happy with the look. I decided to do the black outer instead of the white. The only question I ask is what is the best PSI to run the tire when going one size tire up on the 4runner? I dont want to wear the outer tread quicker than the inner, and as of now it seems like it may be a little low... I was thinking like 34 or 35psi? Let me know what you guys think?!

I wont be writing up a review as of yet, but I will write one after I get more than 5-10 miles on them! But as for the first impression I am very happy with my pick. They seem to give a little more on bumps and not feel so rough, but in terms of steering they feel good. I would say that they are very similar to the stock tire, but the overall feel just seems to be better than stock. I am sure my feelings are slightly skewed because I just got them installed and I am super excited (a mental game), but as I get more miles on the tires I will give a full review on the tires!

Forget about load rating pressure unless you are carrying a load. For best unloaded tire pressure and optimal wear perform a chalk test on the tires at operating temperature(drive around the block a few times)

You can search this, I made a video and took pictures and posted them in a thread. Also many, many links on google containing information about how to perform a chalk test
