Going from Joshua Tree to Ocotillo Wells

Hey guys!

I've been trying to piece together trail maps from a bunch of different sources but can't seem to make it work. Is there any way to connect from Joshua Tree all the way down to Ocotillo Wells on all dirt? It obviously can be done on the road, but I'm looking to do it all on trails only if possible.

I doubt it. [MENTION=117408]Oneluv13T4R[/MENTION] would be the one to know though. Maybe JT through Mecca, but I think that puts you going in the wrong direction. Basically you have to get down by the Salton Sea somehow in order to connect to Truckhaven and then Ocotillo I think.

OP really advise that you have a very good detailed mapping app / tool with all the maps downloaded beforehand. That whole area is cell dead zone for the most part.

I'd love to but you're right I'm too young! Based on what I could find it didn't seem possible without passing through some part of Palm Desert on pavement. Also your google maps link isn't working for me either.

Offline routes on Google Maps has worked very well for me in the past, but I also have an old Garmin GPS that can give me coordinates and a good ol' fashioned map just in case.

I was really just looking for this so I could camp in Joshua tree one night then down in Ocotillo the next, of course with as little pavement as possible. I'm not at all familiar with the roads and trails in Anza Borrego and the surrounding desert, I've only ever backpacked out there not driven, so anyone who knows anything is more of a help than me

It's working now, thanks for the effort but a lot of that seems a little silly just to stay on dirt. Kinda what I was expecting. It also seems like there is plenty of fun to be had in Ocotillo Wells alone for a long weekend without needing to venture out anywhere else.

There is plenty to do and break in Ocotillo Wells. Cant wait until this young one is old enough to regularly go back out.
