Going to monstaliner the roof

I’m going to be monstalining the roof. Was curious if 1 quart will be enough for the roof. Roof has few chips and small rust spots. So my permanent easy fix will be the color that matches the best and bed line just the roof.

I think you'll need 2 quarts to cover the roof and get the two coats on. I went through about a quart and a half doing my fender flares but I rolled it on. If you follow the directions to the T the stuff is incredibly durable. I've drug mine against some trees and rocks pretty hard and it has never once scratched.

I think eventually I'm going to monstaline my entire rig. I would have to have a bit of down time though as I would want to do it right and sand the entire rig down and then do it. Lots of prep time.

I’m going to be rolling it. I’ve used monstaliner before. Just wondering if anyone has done the roof only.

Sub'd. I'm interested in seeing how this turns out. My hood and roof are in bad shape like most Evergreen Pearls and this sounds like an interesting fix.

I did my whole rig in a 2 day rush between snow storms. I rolled in on and I'd say 2 quarts for the roof would be necessary. I had 2 gallons for the whole thing and I didn't get perfect coverage because I was in a rush, I probably wasted a half gallon or so. Looks good from 5 feet away though. I'll probably do another coat this summer to make it look cleaner.

I'm thinking white on the top but mine is silver so could just go silver.
If going with white would look like an FJ a little.

I’ll keep you guys posted. I just recently did the area wheee the roof rack rails are in black. I should of just done the whole roof+rack rail area in matching monstaliner. But it’s to late. And I really don’t feel like removing the rails and removing the silicone. So I’ll end just nicely taping around that area

If you are set on Monstaliner, might I ask why? I have my list to first research all of the various options first. Raptor liner, Heruliner come-to-mind, as examples...

Herculiner is autozone brand. And I’ve heard bad stories about it. I heard really good stories about monstaliner. It’s also UV resistant permanently. Don’t need to top coat it. I’ve also used monstaliner before. On my rock sliders, around where the fender flares go on, and other parts of the truck. It’s durable, hasn’t faded. And dirt washes of easily.

I went from white to sand. Door jambs and other parts are still white. I mainly just did it because my white paint was faded and dull and I didn't want to deal with it.

Just read through several discussion (other forums) and I can see the appeal of Monsta alright. The Raptor liner looks to be a fine product as well. About the only knock I saw on it was that the texture is too heavy. For those who want made in USA, Monsta qualifies in that respect.

I personally like that it's rolled-on, which I feel or hope makes touch-up easier and faster.

Thinking Desert Sand over my Desert Dune... Black over the cladding and fender flares.

EDIT/ADD: They'll send 5 free samples or chips. Have those coming: Desert Sand, WWII OD Green, Black, Yank My Doodle and Killer Beej.

this is what i did so far

i though i could get away with touch up paint on the roof... but it will be easier and better to monstaliner the whole roof. Going with MS-LQG color code.

And I just got my five samples...

As much I tend to prefer the Desert Sand, Killer Beej is the closest to our Desert Dune. When it comes time for me to do this, I'd prefer very little difference in color, which might otherwise be noticeable in the door jambs and the like...

Yeah I got my samples to. I’m going with MS-LQG. It’s closest to my color.

and basically i went with the windshield line. Dont mind the tape residue on the border edge
