Good Deal? 2007 4runner SE $29,300 OTD

Hi All,

I've been lurking here for the past 2-3 months trying to learn everything about the 4runner.

I'm been presented with an a trade in offer and just wondering if it's a good deal or not.

Trade in: 2001 BMW 330ci 78,000 =$13,500 (kinda low i thought)
For: 2007 Toyota 4runner SE + $15,800

2007 White 4 Runner
V6 2WD
Moonroof
Tow Package

So total for the 4Runner is $29,300 includes tax, registration fee, etc..

What do you think? should I pull the trigger?

Any other options I should consider?

This will be my first brand new car (always bought used).

$29,300 would be an AWESOME deal if it was V8 and 4wd with SUnroof.

It's a 2WD V6

Standard Sport Edition with Moonroof, Xreas, Towpackage.

first of all the XREAS is standard with the sport edition. second, MSRP on that should be around $31,950. Based on the percentages I paid for mine and the teeth I had to pull to get it, you should be able to get yours for.....

$28,047 which means you should be able to get it for $1300 cheaper than you were quoted. But then again variables could be different in CA too.

EDIT: I forgot you mentioned the price included taxes/fees. So therefore you could be getting a hell of a deal.

Actually due to the high mileage you are getting a decent deal on the trade in, maybe a little bit low. 15,000 might be more reasonable. They will probably sell it for around $22,000 so ya anyways...The price of the SE is really a pretty good deal! So ya if you can get a little more for the trade in I would say go for it!!

It's the way that they package it with the trade in. It's a V6 and it's only 2WD. Now you might not need the 4WD nor the V8 but those certainly affect the value in terms of the deal. I think you'll do better to move the BMW on your own, which you've probably taken care of and then come back to the table. I'd be surprised if you don't get 14.5K and then I'll bet you'll get a better deal without the trade.

Just my opinion. I realize the trade in, is easier though.

Make sure you understand what the two separate prices are for the 4Runner and the trade-in value for your BMW.

If the deal is the BMW + $15,800, then you really don't know either number. If the BMW is only worth what they're telling you ($13,500), then that might be a good deal. But if the BMW is worth more, then you're overpaying for the 4Runner.

The 4Runner should be very close to the invoice price listed by Edmunds or KBB - within a few hundred bucks above or maybe below it (if the dealer is anxious to sell) BEFORE any incentives are applied.

Find out what your trade is worth using an average of Edmunds and KBB used car appraised values. Edmunds is usually high and KBB low, so average them. Also look at the used car market and see what's on lots that's similar to your car and see what they're advertising it for. The dealer will expect to have a margin of $2000-$3000 between what the used car cost them (wholesale/trade value) and what they're asking as a starting price.

Once you know what the 4Runner should cost and what your trade is worth, then you can subtract the numbers to get the "your car plus $xxxxx" number.

which dealer are you getting this "deal"? I'm in Socal as well and when I purchased my 4runner last year, I emailed all the dealers in the OC area and some in the LA area. The dealership that gave me the best price was at Carson Toyota (i think I emailed their fleet deparment). But I agree with the consensus of the other people, you will probably make more selling it on your own. Also, always separate the trade-in value of your car with the purchase price of the car you want to buy. That way you can maximize each transaction.

I just bought a similar vehicle to what you were quoted...

07 Sport, 2wd, V6, JBL, DD cargo, Hitch, All-weather mats, Homelink, Leather heated seats for $29800 OTD.

The dealer had a custom shop install the leather, heated seats using toyota factory parts. They should have offered the sport with leather from the factory anyway.
