Good Lift?

I have a salsa red 2005 Sport Edition 4runner and I want to lift it up a bit. I plan on putting Bilstein 5100 Shocks in the front and set them at 2.5" and then put a daystar 1.5" lift in the rear. Does this sound like a good setup? It'll cost around $160

Bilstein 5100 are usually ~$100 each and the rear daystar spacers are $50/ pair.

Are you buying used or new? Install yourself?

$160 is a good deal for everything.

I'll be buying everything new and install it with two friends. What size tires do you think would look best with this lift? I have 265/65/17 on it now

My bad. Thought the $120 price on the Bilstein shocks was for a pair, but turns out it's $120 per shock.

I too have been looking at this lift...from what I've been reading, it's good for mild off-roading and you could can fit up to 275/70s with spacers with no rubbing...perhaps even 285s but you may need to upgrade your UCAs. Buy it, snap some photos, and I'll than be able to make my decision easier!

Since you have a sport edition, you have the factory XREAS system. You'll have to remove this, which isn't too big of a deal, just something to consider. You'll be looking at close to $400 for the setup you've mentioned. AJUSA has good prices on the shocks...

Thanks for the links everyone. Yea I thought I would have to do something with the XREAS since I have a sport edition. It'll probably be a while until I do lift it because of the money, but if/when I do i'll post pics

If you want a lift on a budget, you could always do the Daystar 2.5/1.5 on the stock suspension. This kit runs ~$140. Even cheaper you could do the Daystar Budget Boost (~2") in the front and Daystar 1.5" in the rear, it'll run about $80.

Yes, you can install the Daystar lift and keep XREAS. The 2.5/1.5 is going to be more level, the 2/1.5 was only mentioned as a slightly cheaper alternative if the budget is super tight.
