Any word of a .pdf or the exact TSB number? I want to make sure the dealership knows what I'm talking about.

My last service when I complained I was told in no way is there a problem..it's "expected" and ALL Toyotas do it!! By TWO service guys!!
I wonder if it was Eskimochaos that was working behind the counter that day...
Anyway..I'm glad it's a problem..for a minute there I thought maybe it was me, now I hope there's no long term damage to the friggin thing from running like that for 14,000+ miles

exactly why a .pdf of the TSB would help. it would include applicable vin numbers, etc.
Anyone have access to TIS to get a copy??

i made an appt with my svc dept yesterday and initially they he was i think trying to give me the run around. i told him about the tsb number and he kept asking so whats your problem i told him, and then he finally looked it up and i told him i got my truck in dec and and stated there seemed to be problems with the earlier models and he confirmed that my truck was one of the ones the tsb pertained to. He made me an appt to come in tomorrow morning so i'll let you all know how it goes... He did say the tsb pertained to specific engine types..( i believe he said engine types could've been something else tho..)

"engine types" seems odd: the V6 is essentially the only engine. has anyone actually ever seen a 4-cylinder model in person?

so i just got back from the dealership here in town and, first of bob tyler svc sucked. When i phone the svc MANAGER yesterdey who made my appt and listened to my issue he told me that my truck was in fact within the the parameters for the TSB. I get there, he never comes to talk to me and after an 1hr 30mins i just start walking around myself looking for my truck. It finally comes out and the dude that was working on it told me my diagnostics were already flashed during production and that the TSB wasnt for my model. He then proceeded to tell me that that particular tsb that was referenced on this thread was for HARD SHIFTS at low speeds not lagging shifts. He even told me when he drove my truck he was waiting for it to shift and low speeds but that was b/c so many ppl were complaining about hard shifts at low speeds they put that tsb out and so my truck has the lagging shift now. To make matters worse the idiot svc manager had wrote down on my invoice "customer states vehicle shift harsh on acceleration" which is exactly the OPPOSITE of what i told him on the phone.
Soo what i gathered from that waste of my life this morning was the TSB we have been talking about doesn't even exsist for lagging transmission its for hard shifting at low speeds. It was created b/c of a lot of ppl complaining, so my truck was produced with the tsb already done now creating a lagging shift.

I am working on getting a copy of the TSB. Was told it addresses "hard shifts under 20 MPH."

Can I get your dealer information,so that I can tell my dealer to contact them to find out and solve the problem for me too.
I looked up the TSB today... didn't get a PDF.* It was changed pretty early in production, it seems. My 4Runner's VIN's last 5 digits are 14591 and it wasn't within the range for the 4WD V6 models. I also haven't noticed the complaint condition AT ALL on my 4Runner.

I am wondering of the guys that had this fixed, if they really had the HARD SHIFT and not lag? I will be taking mine in tommorow night, I can tell when I'm driving and go to make a turn under 20 mph and then hit the gas there is a hard shift. The dealer did say mine was one listed on the TSB, but we will see. Or if this is a reflash it fixes the lagging also?

Had my TE in yesterday to address the tranny lag. I bought mine in March and was told the ECU coding was the same as indicated in the new tsb. I too have been experiencing a noticeable lag, even with the supposed fix already installed.
I convinced the service manager to reset / reflash the ECU with the same coding after some debate. Drove it home and noticed a world of difference, even though I am still in the adaptive learning stage post reflash. Not sure what's going on. All I can say is a hard re-boot of anything electronic is often the only thing needed to fix the gremlins. I hope it stays how it is and doesn't "learn" bad habits.
