Good news for the tranny lag..new tsb fixes!

i thought i'd let anyone that is experiencing the annoying tranny lag at low speeds know, there is a new tsb that came out june 29th (per my dealer anyway) that fixes this problem. we had ours done yesterday and i just drove it back to work today, and its soooo much bettttter, normal! major difference.
hope this helps anyone elso who is experiencing this problem.

Someone's gonna want to post the TSB number. When alot of us from tacomaworld were dealing with this guys had to deal with ill informed techs, some denying any problem at all. It might just be easier to go there and say "my tranny is acting messed up, this is the tsb number", it was for me anyway.

i just got the tsb# that was performed on my truck to fix my illin' tranny.
tsb# 0166-10
whatever it was extactly i dont know, but man did it make it better.

Good luck with that... We don't see many of the tsb's that are issued in the US and it's not just Toyota. I've had a few service centers proclaim that the Canadian vehicles use different parts so the US tsb's don't apply here (we know that's bs of course). For example, I had a fuel pump noise issue with a 2006 RAV4 and it took me months to finally convince my dealership that not only did the problem exist, but the fix was simple. The US TSB existed, but the dealership could not find a Canadian version. They reluctantly did the work anyhow and what do you know, it fixed the problem. There just seems to be a huge reluctance of manufacturers and dealerships to deal with TSB's in Canada. Even when the dealership finally acknowledges a TSB exists, it can be a royal pain convincing them to do the work. They insinuate that you are imagining the problem because of the TSB or that you read internet forums. Their logic is whacked.....

Thanks for the info! Now that's great news. I don't really notice it too much anymore as I've gotten used to it.

Great news. That was a big issue for me when comparing it to our old '07 4R. It seemed to drive smoother in the lower RPMs and didn't take such a kick in the a** to upshift if needed. I hope this takes care of it.

While I got the oil changed on Friday I gave them that TSB # - they came back and said my vehicle (VIN?) wasn't effected by the TSB so they didn't do anything...Maybe Toyota fixed the problem after they already started rolling off the line?

Yeah, what does it feel like? I think mine is spot on.

fwiw..i bought my 2010 4runner dec 23 2009 and it had the transmission hesitation since new. maybe it was the earliest run of the model. the "fix" or the tsb has made a night and day difference in the drivability.
today i put it through the paces, ran up to 8500ft, ran buck rock jeep trail (fairly easy trail only a few tougher areas) and back down going 70+ to get the kids back for swim lessons! no problems and ran perfect, shifted like it should! got 18.7 mpg round trip with about 45 minutes in 4 lo.
much happier.

My 4Runner arrived in the states on 12/14 2009 and took delivery 2/15 2010. Maybe my lag isn't as bad as the rest, I only drove this one - but it just seems like there is a huge disconnect between me pressing down on the pedal and then receiving feedback from the engine. I wrote it off as the electronic throttle until I started reading reports on the forums.
