Good Price on 08 Sport 4 Runner?

Hey everyone. I am new to this forum although have been lurking for awhile now.

I have recently made the decision to purchase a Toyota 4 Runner (and a lot of information on this forum helped out too!)

I live in the Philadelphia area and surprisingly there weren't many available at local dealers. I finally found a 2008 4 Runner Sport Edition V8 4x4 with the Sport Extra Value Package #1 and a few other add ons.

The invoice price is showing $33,800 with an MSRP of $36,100. There is also currently a $2,000 dollar rebate. The lowest I could get the dealer to go is $31,000 though and I feel that I could get a better deal elsewhere if I walk away from this one.

To give the dealer his what is due, he is in a pretty good bargaining position. This is only one of 3 V8 4x4 sport models available in about a 100 mile radius and he has said that he has met his qouta already for the month.

Given these circumstances, do you think I am getting a fair price or should I walk away from the deal? I have until tomorrow at 5pm before the price qoute expires. Any advice would be appreciated.

I think you should look at whether or not you feel it is a good deal. Personally i think 31k is a good price for a V8 sport package. I paid 29 for my V6 Sport, but i bought an 06 in Dec05. Considering its an 08 in mid 09, may mean something to you.

Considering the Toyota website lists the 09 V8 Sport with an MSRP of 34,605 and an invoice around 31,159 unless you are getting navi and leather in the 08, i would say you may want to try and get an 09 for 31.

There are plenty of knowledgeable members here and i am sure someone will chime in with better numbers than i am providing

I would agree that it ultimately boils down to whether or not you think it's a fair deal.

It sounds like you've done your homework on the price, so my only hesitation would be the fact that it's a year old, for which you'll get pounded on depreciation immediately. I'd try to get them down a little more because of that. I can't believe any dealer wouldn't be thrilled to sell a car in this economy, quota or not. Especially an 08, which they've been making payments on for many months.

On the other side of the coin, 4Runners are generally few and far between right now. You might have a hard time finding the one you want elsewhere. 2009's are not sitting on lots anywhere, and there is no rebate on 2009. They might be clearing out the channel for the launch of a new 2010 design.

Personally IMHO I would walk away after the a**hole said that he already met his quota for the month....He can make u a better deal trust me...I'd go for an '09 for that same price....
