Good replacement headunit

If I were to go about replacing my factory jbl synthesis headunit on my 08' what would be a good one to replace with. I would rather get a big flatscreen instead of just a plane deck style which means probs with nav.

new headunit

I guess it depends on what you want. I'm just about in the same boat as you, but with an 04. I've searched around and will be going with Pioneer Avic z120bt. If you have an iPhone it's pretty much the unit you should have.

Along with this, I'm installing the Sirius unit, backup camera, and iPod adapter.

Whatever you end up going with... you pretty much will need the PAC device that mates your stereo to your JBL amp. And another PAC device that will allow you to use your steering wheel controls.

Thats cool I don't have an iPhone but I do have and iPod touch and a Droid Incredible. Quick question, what is a PAC device?

Depending on what HU you get... you might want to use your steering wheel buttons to control your HU. If so, you would use something like a PAC-SWI-JACK (jack is for JVC, ALPINE, CLARION or Kenwood) or a PAC-SWI-PS (Pioneer or Sony). Just google either one you'll see.

Also, if you just want to connect to your JBL AMP then the PAC-TATO will make it a cleaner install. It's basically a in between connector to mate your stereo to existing equipment.

Go Alpine

I went with the Alpine 9884 w/I-pod interface, a Alpine 10" sub and a Kenwood 1000W amp. I have the factory JBL 10 speaker system and everything sounds really good together. I get compliments all of the time. I'm real happy with everything.

Yup I agree with the Pioneer Avic series...any of them are good. I have the older avic f700 and I love it.
Nice large flat touch screen, navi (surpisingly accurate as far as back trails and forest roads, which can be updated anytime), ipod dock (my ipod touch is hooked up, stored and locked away in the glovebox for security), bluetooth w/ mic that can be mounted in the upper lefthand corner of the windshield, voice commands, and video.

And if you do go with that, my only suggestion is to do the manual bypass BEFORE installing, so you can watch video while driving, which yes is illegal. But it's a feature that it does have and annoying that you can't use unless your stopped. And mainly for your passengers anyways on longer road trips. Just look up online and they can tell you how to do it. Only involves moving a wire from one location to another.
Which I didn't do, so eventually I have to tear out the HU again, bypass, and reinstall....:bash:

Selling my new Pioneer X920BT Unit

Hi andyman,

I have a 2 week old Pioneer AVICX920BT for sale with all the bells and whistles included (HD tuner, ipod cable, the PAC unit) The X920 BT is bluetooth ready. This is Pioneer's newest system and has phenomenal sound and two cool audio features called musicsphere and is Pandora radio capable. Let me know if interested.
My husband is colorblind, so sadly, the he can't see all the elements on the map during navigation, so we need something else.
