Second this. My OEM filters (more like a rubber flap) had completely disintegrated. Don't be like me. I picked up a set of these about a year ago but the damage had been done...

Granted, desert driving is a worst case scenario for this dust intrusion, but it does make one wonder about the effectiveness of the factory flapper vents for even everyday use in a 4Runner application. I've never seen this kind of dust intrusion on cars which also use said flapper vents.

As an aside, is that a sunroof drain exit point I see above the flapper vent (in the video after the bumper cover is removed)? I always wondered where they exit in the rear.

Right? But at least it’s a worthy mod and not a repair.

Good question. I don’t have a factory sunroof on my 2018 Pro. I would think that they would make it accessible without having to remove or pull back the rear bumper.

IKR? On some other platforms I've seen the exit points are really buried. Which is fine until they clog or leak. Then it's all hands on deck to scramble locating/accessing them.

Now that's better. While I had it apart I took the opportunity to re-run all my aftermarket wiring up front and installed a ton of sound deadening.

I've left the back apart for the moment as I'm planning to put in a new platform and drawers as well as rebuild the electrical system. More to come in a seperate (re)build thread...
