got my quote back..it's shrockworks or arb time!! which one??

ok so i got my insurance quote back looks to be around 2.8K with about 1500 of that being parts alone, so i am now really looking at a schrockworks bumper and am trying to decide powdercoat black or paint to match since they are blending a few panels anyways.

anyone have one of these? will my stock fog's fit in the holes? any special fab work needed?


ARB or Shrockworks? give the choice? there's a bit of a price difference and then include shipping and it's about $400 bucks cheaper to go with ARB, that can also be sliders or something else awesome...to take that into consideration as well......

I love the lines on the SW bumper but the damn lead time to get one is insane 3 months last i heard. I would go with ARB, its proven and you can have spare money for sliders, winch, HID hella 4000 retro, stuff like that.

There is a local guy with a shrockworks bumper. The thing is SEXY. If you can swing it, I'd say SW all the way. Plus, I see ARB's all the time on Toyotas, Dodge, etc. (not saying that's bad). They also don't make one for a 4Runner. People just retrofit a Tacoma bar.

If I were in your shoes, I'd get SW.

ARB from 4wheel parts... if you don't like them, at least you've now got the part number. Bull Bar Winch Mount Bumper

I have an ARB because I think it's better engineered, but the Shrockworks is still an awesome product.

The pic pnut posted of the ARB is a 2nd gen version, and the SW one is a 4th gen. Don't use them for comparisons.Here's a good pic of a 3rd gen... Similar, but different.

IMO, if you have black trim (fenders), then black would be my choice. However, if your rig is all silver, I'd say go for the paint match.

And as techno said, those aren't of 3rd Gen's, but don't know what the big deal is, since the design is pretty much identical.

Not enough room for flex. How much does it flex under a decent hit? I don't know, just my concern thats all. I saw a good pic of a collision involving an Xterra with a SW bumper and a car and it held up pretty well.

Since every bumper is built to spec, I would think that Jim/Shrockworks could widen that gap upon your request?

Both bumpers are sweet. But if you want to use your money correctly maybe invest in an arb and buy some winch or slidders. Both are going to do there job in protecting your runner from getting damage when you go offroading. Also I would paint the bumpers black, every time I go out with the guys Im hitting the bottom of the bumper and sides, so by having them black I can just spray paint them. I also had the option at the body shop to have my front bumper color match my truck but I am glad I did not.

They don't but every 4runner has the tacoma model and form there is a simple modification to get it to fit.

Ya definitely go with the SW, seems like a more solid product and it looks way better. So do you get a check from the insurance company or what? Won't the wait time be some trouble for the insurance company?
