Got My T4R today and i love it! One question though?

Well 2 questions actually first i got a free 3 month warranty with my truck (a 98 SR5 4x4 5 speed) and the warranty guy told me that there was a recall on the headgaskets??? He said he knew that applied to the 96' but he was not sure about the 98'. I drove my T4R about 300 miles today and loved every minute of it except that my cruise control would not work. When i pressed the button on the side to turn on the CC system the light on the dash would kick on but when i pressed down it would not engage?????

If you guys could let me know that would be awesome. I have not even checked the fuse yet, im doing that first thing in the morning but.....just wanted to know your thoughts.

thats how the CC works, so if it didnt work for you then its out.

as for HG, that effected 96's and early 97's so youre in the clear.

The CC takes a bit to engage sometimes for me and I think it doesnt work but it kicks in. Try keeping your foot on the gas at the same speed after pushing it down and then after a second or two it should kick in.

It looks like yours is a manual so the CC could be due to the clutch pedal. There is a switch under the clutch pedal which turns CC off if you depress the clutch. If that switch is not working the light will come on but cruise won't engage. I know because when Toyota replaced the clutch pedal on my 00 they broke that switch and I couldn't use cruise for a week while they waited on the part.

I checked the switch under the clutch and the little button is not stuck. Do you think it is that this switch went bad? Or does this mean that the actual CC went bad?

as mentioned above, try holding the 'set' position a bit longer. sometimes it is delayed.

I doubt that switch would go bad, but I suppose it is one more thing you could check.
