Got rear ended today...

Not sure if it's any help, but when I got hit on the rear quarter panel, the body shop guy said that the aftermarket plastic fenders had to be from Toyota (only on m.y. 10-13). I guess the aftermarket ones look totally different and will not match. He used that as an excuse to get me all genuine Toyota replacement parts (bumper, plastic covers, plastic wheel arches etc).

I also trouble going after diminished value, because the cost of the total repair was like $2k. I contacted a diminished value guru and he basically said it was not worth the effort, unless you have like $8k plus in damages. So basically I would lean on the other drivers insurance, but if they are not playing ball, it might not be worth taking legal action over it.

Update:

1. USAA ended up offering to pay me cash from their body shop's estimate.
2. Filed a diminished value claim with USAA and they gave me ~$250.
3. Because my vehicle is older than 3 years (not sure if this is State law or federal), but USAA's body shop informed me that all replacement parts will NOT being genuine Toyota.

Final decision is that I am keeping this vehicle until the wheels fall off. I off road in it and have already beat the body (huge dent rear quarter panel, pin stripes all over, dented hood, handlebar dent on gad cap, etc) up after the rear end got hit. I kept the money and bought a new Ellsworth Rogue 60. I'm going to hold off on bumpers until after I pay him off.

resolution...

Glad to hear that you finally got things resolved with USAA, hadn't heard about the anything older than 3 years thing, but always a first time. Pretty sweet bike you got... happy that you can enjoy that. :thumb3:
