Got scolded by the wife this morning....

borrowed a dump bed goose neck trailer and a Ford F-550 4X4 truck to haul some dirt to fill in some low spots in my yard. Backed the trailer into the yard and the trailer sunk. The F-550 had slick street tires and would not pull it out so I hooked up her less than a week old LTD to see if it would help the F-550 pull itself out. All the 4Runner would do is spin the tires, not enough weight. So I went inside to ask my wife if she would bring me to my truck (F-350 DRW 4X4) to pull the F-550 out. She said sure and when she walked outside and saw the other person with me unhooking the chain from her 4Runner......I got scolded BAD! The F-350 did pull it out.:cool:

Your problem is you used the chain instead of a recovery strap. Using a chain the lighter vehicle loses every time. Use a dynamic recovery strap will even the odds a bit. I would have scolded you too. Seems like your wife is smarter than you.

Meh, you tried , it would have saved a trip if it had got the job done. The only mistake I see you made was asking your wife for a ride, next time just have the "other person" take you :)
 
You should know its been raining monsoons practically every day down here. Why would you try to back the F-550 with a gooseneck into your yard to begin with?

The truck itself weighs 8000lbs!
 
Give him a break. I look at it this way nothing ventured nothing gained. He got his first lesson in vehicular recovery. :redbrick: :fear:

The recovery strap was in my F-350 parked at a different location. I was just giving it a try and it was not my first rodeo. Looks like I need to purchase another recovery strap and store it in the new 4Runner!

And today was the only time I had access to the dump trailer and a source for the top soil. I had to get it while the getting was good!

Actually the truck weighs over 9000lbs. And the truck was still on high ground but the grass was wet and it could not get any traction. It just needed a little tug.

I was just "yanking your chain" (oh man!) and all is good lol. Welcome to the forum! Lots of talented guys here that have posted many good threads.

its all in fun, and hindsight is always 20/20. I've done stupid things and then look back and say, I should have know better, even to this day.

and trust me, I will do just as stupid things in the future that would top the last stupid thing I did.

Are ya'll sure my wife has not had a part in this forum? She has this inane ability to find the most obscure deprivation on the interwebs.
