Got the back glass motor fixed and now more issues

I ordered a motor refurbed from ebay for 60 bucks and it wouldn't fit. Still using a mechanic because of my injuries. He pulled the gear and put it on my motor and it worked. It was glass down when he brought it back. I popped the top and enjoyed the heck out of it. I drove it for a month and nobody commented on it. I popped the top and had offers almost everyday. Unfortunately, when I had to put the top back on because of rain it wouldn't go up with the key which may be normal?? I went into the truck and hit the switch and it still wouldn't go up but I noticed the tailgate light on. I went to the back and push down on the lock and it went out. I then hit the switch and it rolled up halfway and then jumped the track. It seems to want to go up and down but it gets stuck halfway. Almost like the top isn't lined up. Also, now the key switch isn't working again. I am thinking at this point I will just pull the top and get the soft topper for it. Winters here only go into the 30's. I fell like the top is sitting off or so the window would suggest. It isn't jerky going up or down so I don't think the regulator is the cause but maybe.

Take the top off, put the 3rd bolt from the back on the drivers side back into the bed rail to fool the safety switch, and then try and roll it up. If you're right, it'll roll up just fine. If it doesn't, then you know it's an issue with the regulator/tracks in the tailgate.

It's common for the key switch to stop working. It's probably just the contacts.

Thanks I will try that. I just ordered a tan soft topper for it. I thought about black along time but liked the idea of a tan one. I hope I don't hate it with the burgundy paint. I need to get it repainted but have been thinking of keeping it stock color.
