2000 Toyota 4runner Auto trans 3.4 V6. 180xxx miles and climbing.

I've been on here a lot being inspired by all these awesome 4runners I want to add mine to the collection. It started with my wonderful 1986 4runner 22re hence the name GOTOPLESS:

Then some dude ran a red light and she was totaled

I loved that rig and plan to get another. But I wanted a 3rd gen so this is what I got:

The day she came home.

I started modding quickly. First thing I did was get new tires which I way overpaid for but a lesson learned

I was having some major rubbing issues so I trimmed the front bumper and bought the crappy 2.5" daystar spacer lift. Not a bad product but not good for wheeling.

It started to sag quickly. Next, I Got the roof rack with high lift jack and shovel mounts

It took forever to get the mud out but I had fun. The dealership under coated for me. Good thing I didn't pay for it because it's mostly all gone now and it's only been a year

Next mod was what I had been waiting for. Addicted offroad front bumper rattle canned flat black

Then used plasti dip for the grill. I broke the snaps to remove the grill so I just painted with it in

I got the bumper installed:

Then added the 6" KC Daylighters. My dad had them on his old 70's Jeeps and I loved those big yellow faces so I had to have them on the funrunner:

She only had one rust spot on her. It was under the rocker panel about 3" long so I sanded it all out. Used some heavy rust killer and painted it all with Rust-Oleum flat black. Then I applied Hurculiner on the rockers and all the fender flares. I took all the flares off, sanded the truck, painted, lined, and then put the new lined flares on. It still looks awesome! No flakes or anything. Plus, Hurculiner is easy to touch up again.

Hi,

Do you think Hurculiner will hide future rust coming from underneath ? Did you oiled it from under ?

Thx mate !

I put on a B&M super cooler for fear of the pink milk shake. I also have a full k&N intake system just sitting around I need to install along with new axles. I finally got my new CV joints in.

Yeah man I went to town on that rust. It wasn't bad yet but I wanted to stop it before it did get bad. I used a metal grinder to remove it all. Then i sanded, painted, sanded, and applied the Hurculiner. I doubt I'll have any rust issues in those areas again. As far as future rust, I don't know. Line-X claims their liner is air tight so they prevent rust but this is cheap compared to that. So I doubt it, but its better then just leaving it alone I suppose.

The other day I ordered my new lift which I'm very excited about. The Toytec Ultimate lift w/ Super Flex coils and Bilstein 9602R703 5100 series long travel shocks in the rear and Red 600 LB coils in the front w/ Bilstein 5100 shocks. I can't wait to get it in and get it installed!

Great to meet ya man, Where did you go wheelin? I would like to organize a day out to the Red River Gorge some time. Truck is lookin SWEET! Looks like I got a local guy to keep up mods with.

Cheers,

Heck yeah man! I've only been to Jigg Water in Richmond a couple of times and once down in a park in TN. Not much at Jigg just an awesome creek and a lot of mud. Im all about the Gorge though man. I hike there a lot and Slade is supposed to have some of the best trails in KY.

Thanks for the comment man. I love competition haha

Couple updates. With all the warm weather we've had I got to take the ninja 650 out. My momma has the Harley 883

The bike's not mine. My buddy moved to Colorado and told me to take care of the ninja. Best job ever. I also got a new wheeling partner.

Haha no man although that would be awesome. I saw on another 1st gen runner a bumper sticker that said "I go topless" so I stole the name.

Great job on your rig, but even better job on finding a cool new wheeling partner!

Looking forward to seeing your lift installed.
