How are the rear end links holding up? And what did you mean by getting longer shocks?

I think ive decided on what i want to do for my retrofit.

Taking inspiration from your headlight build, im going to run 2 strips of SMD leds (amber) along the inner edge with 1 being wired to the parking lights and 1 wired to the corresponding turn signal.

I want to wire them both on to the parking signal and be able to use one on each side as a turn signal as well but i am not sure of what relay or wiring i would need to do for that ;l

Well, I picked up some 2nd gen aftermarket ones from O-Reilly's, I installed them and i can tell a big difference with the flex on turns etc. But yeah my KYB shocks are over extended from the LC coils so some bumps kinda hurt if i hit them wrong. It's sucks I'm driving very carefully and it's not fun

dude I'm glad your gonna make something unique, that freaking awesome. These retrofits are getting better and better. who knows, if my summer is good for sales, ill do my next set!

Ok, so yeah your plan sounds cool and doable. I'm not sure if you can do it this way but it sounds legit. You just have to wire one set to your parking lights then wire the second set to the blinker but on this one use your power feed from the 1st set of LED's? not sure if that will work like this or not, but LED's don't draw too much power so the worst that could happen is you blow a fuse. I cant wait to see it man!

Oh i get what you mean, it'll be all gravy if you have longer shocks such as the bilsteins you plan to get right? I have a quite a few bushings all around my truck that need replacement soon enough and im thinking i would go with the beefier 2nd gen type if i can with the OME setup in the rear.

As for having pairs of strips wired to the parking lights and 1 of each pair also hooked up to the blinkers, i have a LOT of planning to do and need to check out the trucks current wiring. If anything i will probably just do a single row on each side as you did, and and a second one that will only blink with my turn signals.

Or just have a pair of trips on each side wired to the parking lights, and then i might fashion a sidemarker wired to the blinkers. Oh the ideas brewing in my head reggers:

so wow... For the first time in forever, I'm beginning to really hate driving my 4runner. After the lift, the ride has become horrible! I hope some longer rear shocks will calm it down a little, right now with my mpg's sucking with this winter gas, and the embarrassing ride, I'm on the verge of wanting to sell... I know... crazy!

It feels like there is no suspension what-so-ever. Every time I hit a pot hole or a nasty bump, I think my truck is gonna fall apart. I cant imagine what it would be like on a dirt road. Good hell!

I went to my local 4x4 shop and the guy encouraged me to get some Tuff Countries he had in stock. I told him i wanted to go with some Billie's like the 5125's. He told me to get the 5100's because they have a life time warranty or something like that? Anyway he's said he'd install them for $20 a shock. So as soon as I get a break in the day I think i'm going to go order some and get those things installed.

so yeah, I'm happy with the looks, but the ride is nasty awful! I hope i can handle the top plate spacers for a few more months, guys, send me some luv im in bad mood lol:frusty::gun4::yell:

LOL! It's the rear shocks, switch em out and it'll be so much better.

I've been tempted to lower/remove my lift at times. I just really want some UCA's to get rid of the loose feeling on the freeway. It gets better and It was a much better ride when I switched rear shocks, so just hang in there. Those SAW's are still for sale....

But yeah It's ridiculous, I'm racking up my credit card to make things right again. Thank goodness for tax returns lol but yeah, I kind of feel very unsafe on the freeway, All my friends think my rig is bad ass until they ride in it lol It's kinda crazy.

The end of this month is my last payment on the runner and I seriously just want to go pick up a little beater, but then again I'm prob gonna be dumping $$ in to that too so yeah... I'm still trying decide

^^They're not in the classifieds, but I've been talking with the guy who owns them. They look to be in good shape, but no guarantees. I can pass along his number if you're interested or I can talk with him. I don't mind picking them up and shipping them if you want.

Tax returns are biting me in the ass this year, so I'm on the opposite end.

that sucks man i'm sorry, I think kids are the key to getting a good return? My sister has 4 kids and they're getting like $2K back per kid! I'm way jealous, i kinda wish i had some of those now haha

If you can, find out how much he wants for those, and if it's a killer deal, I'll snag them. I may just wait for another Toytec group buy though too. I kinda hope, and don't hope that one comes around pretty soon lol

Haha, I have a kid and owe. It's because I set my allowances way too high when I first got hired. I forgot to change them last year so I'm paying for it now. I changed them this year to come out even or close to it. Rather get more money each pay check as it's more beneficial then. I think if I was married and could claim my Fiance it would make a big difference, but kids are way more expensive than 2k, so don't go down that route. haha

He wanted $275, but I could probably get them for $250. They don't come with a spanner wrench though.

haha that's true, kids are way expensive. It's crazy how taxes work. I used get a ton back for being a student but then they gave me grants instead which honestly i can't complain at all about that.

Do you know how many miles are on them? I'll go do some research on the rebuild stuff but that sounds pretty enticing! they are the 2.0's right?

Man I can't believe it hurt your ride so bad. Sorry man. I ran it for 2 years with stock size cheapo autozone shocks. Did you ever get your sway bar links changed? If it were me I would unhook the rear sway bar links just let them hang and take it for a ride around the block. I bet you love it. I pulled mine and drove it from Santaquin to Orem daily 75-80 mph and loved it. Worth a try IMHO. I'd you don't like it your or 20 minutes if you do pull it all together. Leave the front alone biggest mistake I made.

no worries man, the looks make me hate it a lot less, so it kind of breaks even lol! I think the KYB's just performed so well before the lift. I mean i hardly felt any pot holes. It drives fine on the free way but any kind of bump or pothole really starts to rattle my brain a little.

I did change out the rear links for some longer ones. I'll for sure try it out without the links. I'm might be picking up these SAW's so I'm thinking it would be good to compensate it with some longer shocks to help the ride out.

Got some bad news, he sold them already. Too bad, but I'd wait for some newer saws or just go with 5100's and Eibachs. Haven't heard much bad about those.

here is a little update as most of you already know. I'm halfway there to completing my lift plans! I think i'll be able to order some Toytec fronts in a few months. i'm pretty siked!

Anyway I got the 5125's installed and these babies make such a difference in the ride! I'm in love all over again. The top plate spacers in front are not too bad. It feels almost like it did before I lifted it.

I'm gotta take out the nice camera here pretty soon, and get some better shots of some flex action and whatever i can get in the beautiful mountains up here. My problem is I live too damn close to them so i guess I'll take a shot on top
