GPS Mount

Has anyone used a Pro.Fit VSM to mount a Garmin Nuvi? Or another permanent mount?

I have a Garmin Nuvi and I have it mounted with a ProClip mounting system. The one that mounts to a Vent.

I use the Garmin factory mount and suction it right below the hazard light switch on the plastic. Holds really well. Clean the surface and the suction cup with windex first.

Add a hidden 12v outlet in your center console, run the wiring through the dash, and you've got a simple and clean install job.

I just bought a ProClip mount for my sat. radio, works good. So far I am happy with the purchase/product. I can also buy an expander to mount both my GPS and Sat. at the same time. I only use my GPS when I travel so it wasnt worth it.

I had a Pro-Fit bracket in the Honda Pilot but for the 4Runner I use the Garmin bean bag mount and just toss it on the dash when I want to use it and in the center console when not in use. I like to have it up in line of site to reference the map when driving as needed and doesn't get in the way of a passenger.

what ever mount you go with make sure you load the 4Runner vehicle I made for the Garmin Nuvi's if ou haven't so far. This has been downloaded 2500 times so far.

I have a 3 socket bank on the side of the passenger foot well that it pulls power from. It's pretty clean.

I used the Nav-Mat...I know there's laws about prohibiting items on your dash, but I don't care, if I see a cop, I'll take it down, I'll take my chances. I rather have a clean/hidden look. Plus...when I park the vehicle, I just place it in my carrying case & put it in the trunk. No Pro Clip lingering around. Don't want to give perpetrators the site of a possible device in the vehicle. I actually put the navi away a few blocks before I hit my destination, because I don't want people to see me put away my Garmin when I'm parking & exiting my vehicle.

FYI...I know you are talking about your dash but just so you know, the law recently changed in California.

I removed the little pull out tray deal, whatever that worthless storage area is at the bottom of the consol in front of the cupholders below the a/c and what not, and screwed the suction cup into the plastic (suction cup kept falling off)...have my sirius mounted right next to it. That storage bin, if that's what it is seems worthless to me, so i just removed it and leaves you w/ flat piece of plastic, perfect for mounting devices. There's also space on the bottom where you can run your wires. I have one of those deals where you can plug 3 objects into the one power outlet. So that is under my front seat and all the wires are concealed behind the consol. Hope my rambling made sense...Could take a picture if you'd like.
